5.0 out of 5 stars great; weight limit & hardware
This is a beautiful, sturdy, well-designed product. At first I thought it would look silly in a New England apartment, but then I sat in it and stopped caring. It's that comfortable. It's also fairly unobstrusive, and in a pinch (toddlers visiting? landlord dropping by?) it's easy to substitute a hanging plant or just unhook the chain from the ceiling altogether.

2.0 out of 5 stars Omni Swing not the quality as expected
The pair of swings purchased was below the quality I expected from reading the ad. Eight months earlier I purchased a hand made one in town for the same price...as the value amount portrayed by the ad. So when the ad stated on sale for 1/2 price, I didn't expect 1/2 quality. Sorry, but I had to send mine back. I'll just stick to the local vendors.

As far as safety, if you install it correctly you have nothing to worry about; yes, it will hold two people at once. :-) You'll need to buy a length of chain at the hardware store -- ask for 3/16" link, 750-lb test, and get one or two S-hooks that fit through a link. The chair itself is rated to support up to 500 lbs. Finally, a 2" x 4" ceiling joist will support 450 lbs over a 10-foot span before it begins to bow or buckle. Recommended . . . enjoy!

I got one of these and put it up on the balcony of my condo. Absolutely great. My only real complaint is the amount of support you get for your neck. It can be kinda awkward, but once you get it figured out, this is great for small tight places.

Note, you will probably need to buy a length of chain to hold the chair to the roof/branch. It comes with the hook to put in the ceiling, but not the connecting chain. Unfortunately the description here doesn't include this information. Be forewarned.

2.0 out of 5 stars Snap!!!, October 17, 2002

I first bought this chair because it looked comforble and it was alot cheaper than the other hanging chairs I had looked at. Well I got the chair and it was pretty comfortable untill without warning, SNAP!!!!! one of the two main ropes going to the top broke. I fell flat on my [hiney] from about 4 feet in the air. This [was not fun]. I have sience put the chair away, I thought about buying some climbing rope to fix it. It should have not snapped, I don't weigh more than 175 Lbs. I would only reccomend this product to small kids.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a Good Chair, February 12, 2002

My friend has a hammock chair from a different place that is heavenly to sit in. This hammock, however, is very uncomfortable. The strings are thin and stiff and there feels like there is no give when you sit down. I felt like I had been trapped in a fishing net the only time I ever sat in it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable and well made, January 14, 2001
This review is from: Omni Swings n' Things 510 Rope Hammock Chair, Natural (Lawn & Patio)
I purchased two of these as Christmas presents. They are high quality and well made. They seem quite comfortable. Other's comments about needed hardware are correct. You'll need some hooks, and a sturdy chain. You'll also need a closeable link to connect the chain to the chair. I needed two different sizes as one large enough to connect to the chair was too big to fit through the chain.

One other warning... this item comes in a cardboard cylinder clearly labeled "Hammock Chair". Kind of spoiled the surprise!

2.0 out of 5 stars Green Eggs & Hammocks makes a larger model, February 8, 2002

We ordered one of these chairs thinking they were all the same - I had purchased one from Green Eggs & Hammocks in our local mall and then I saw these for a little cheaper. I highly recommend the Deluxe Chair Hammock over this one which squeezes me at the hips. The deluxe model has thicker cord, it's more durable and it's got a much longer footrest. You can order online from their website-type "hammock" under any search and they come up.

I love this chair! I hung it on my front porch. There is nothing more relaxing than stretching out in my chair with a good book. It was EASY to install, looks attractive, and is easy to remove when you're not using it.

I am able to stretch out completely or sit in it. My 2 year old loves to sit in it with me while I read her a story. My only regret is that I didn't buy 2!!

1.0 out of 5 stars string chair, August 26, 2002

I was disappointed in this, it is more a string chair than a rope chair.

Strong and comfortable, perhaps the best way to ensure domestic tranquility during the summer is to order two of these hammock chairs. It's perfect for hanging out where the shade and the breeze are best! I like this chair even more than the standard robe hammock that's provided hours of summertime naps and lounges to our family over the years.

Installation instructions are clear and easy to follow, with enough specifications regarding weight tolerance etc. to remove any concern over safety. Buy one for your spouse, and then get a second one for yourself. Or maybe just see if they'll let you snuggle with them.
