I'm using this spreader to spread pasture seed with my John Deere Gator. The hitch mounting bracket is not long enough for my UTV. I had to add about 12" of 2" tube and drill a new hole to make it clear the bed of the Gator. It was easy to put together and is good quality. It's a little hard to keep seed from spilling out of the bottom when you stop and shut the spreader off. I have to jump off and run around the back to shut the slide valve before too much expensive seed spill. Holds about 3 50# bags of grass seed. This spreader is performing the job I need it too.

I bought this last season. Assembly will probably take you an hour. It comes with a long wire that runs all the way from the spreader to a cig lighter. I cut all that off and wired it to a trailer light connector. So now I plug it in to the trailer light connector and when I turn on my headlights the motor gets power and starts spinning, almost remote control!

Anyway, this season the motor goes in and out I have to keep checking on it. Tonight I spread sand with it, no way it was going 12' wide even though it was adjusted all the way down. It has the same clogging problem I encounter with all spreaders, you have to agitate it by hand periodically because it doesn't have anything spinning inside the tank. You just open the plate and stuff falls out onto the spinning motor.

All in all, I see the expensive units cost twice as much and don't have any better reviews so maybe its as good as any until you go with a sand dogg or something commercial like that?

My first impression of this unit was favorable as the hopper and frame are very well made. At the cost of seed and fertilizer today this spreader is a failure with no way to control or stop the material you are using without a lot of un controlled waste. I made a positive stop for this unit as well as a way to control the gate opening without having to leave the operator seat. All of this extra work is beyond the ability of most folks and should not be required anyway. Poor design.

Today I put out 350 lbs of 10-10-10 fertilizer. After use I cleaned everything as best as possible. Then I dismantled the control gate after seeing fertilizer stuck in places that did not rinse off. Had I not done that the spreader would not last over several years. The hardware and spacer springs would not last long even spraying them down with WD40. The flat area at the gate opening leaves a lot of fertilizer trapped. All in all I find myself dis-satisfied and unable to recommend this spreader to a friend. Joe Rigsby

It was in good condition when I got it from UPS and it works as well. I would recommend it to other businesses.

It needs to be redesigned making a motorized chute opener so this unit does not dump fertilizer all over the place causing damage to my lawn,,,
