This review is from: Swisher 22-Ton 7 HP Log Splitter LS722 (Lawn & Patio)
The splitter was shipped quickly and efficiently from Pennsylvania to my home near San Francisco. It was easy to track during shipment. When it arrived the delivery man actually put it in the garage.
The splittler came with oil in the engine but no hydraulic fluid. It holds 16 quarts and at $2.49 a quart I paid about $43 to fill it up. It came with no owners manual but it was easy to download it on line. You do have to put some parts together. The long red beam is heavy so it will take a couple of healthy people to lift it into place.
I owned a small electric 4 ton before this and am very impressed with the power this has. The Briggs and Stratton engine fires right up. I have only used it on the horizontal mode and it is outstanding. I did tow it to the gas station to check get the air pressure in the tires up to normal. The unit has no suspension so it will ride a little rough when towing.
I am extremely happy with the price and the work it does. I only wish it wasn't as wide so I could get it in my back yard. My gate is 36 inch wide and the width at the wheels is around 39 to 40 inches. The splitter has no fenders and wood can fall onto the tires. I am probably going to make some kind of cover for the tires so they dont get hit by falling logs.
