4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Pole, but handle needs work
Overall I am very pleased with this Hiking Pole. Locks and expansion work well, but some of the details could be better. These cork handles are fairly rough and need to be a little smoother to be really comfortable. I do not wear gloves while using these poles - to warm in summer in NC - so can feel the roughness. I have another pair from Swiss Gear and those handles...

1.0 out of 5 stars garbage
I bought two - one wouldn't lock, one wouldn't unlock. Eventually I got one of them to work, after about half an hour wasted. The other wouldn't lock for anything, so I took it apart. All the locking hardware is missing from it. All of it. There was only the shock absorbing spring and nothing else, at least 3 or 4 different parts not there. Beautiful. Thanks for...

I have another pair from Swiss Gear and those handles felt great from the first day.

The accessory footings and snow guard are all very flimsy, but the standard tip is all I ever use and it works well. If I used the other tips i would have to drop this to a 3 or maybe a 2 star rating. The red color is great and makes the pole easy to see at a distance - especially in the woods where extra color may be needed.

The adjustments and locks work well and hold great. It is easy to change height when going up or down steep hills and the loch holds the desired height well while in level ground. For the price, a very good bargain.

I got this for my husband after he started taking dialysis to help him stay on his feet better (he is a hugggge man and no way lil ol' me can be a shoulder support for him!). It is easy and versitile for him to use in and outside the truck when I take him in for dialysis.

As is it adjustable, he can easily stole it in his bag that he keeps his snuggie in as he takes dialysis, and remove it, when he leaves the center. I would highly recommend it for anyone, as it can be use for more than hiking!

I bought these hiking poles to give me a little more confidence as I tried to get back to walking after knee replacement surgery. They do the job very well.

This walking pole is versatile and sturdy. The handle is cork and ergonomic. It has a leash and adjusts firmly. It has suspension and an ice pad for the tip. I plan on using this on my Rainier expedition next month. I hope it does the job there as much as it has here in Texas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great hiking pole for the price. READ the directions!, August 28, 2011

Great stick for the price. Peroid. Just make sure you READ the directions on how to "lock" the pole height. You do NOT turn the plastic piece that says lock above it,(which seems like it would make sense) you actually turn the pole itself. Do that and this should be fine for you! Like I said, it is basically an adjustable stick. I'm not sure what a $100 one could do that this one cannot. Maybe have sexy colors?

5.0 out of 5 stars Need poles but don't wanna splurge on the expensive ones?, June 17, 2011

I enjoy hiking and poles really help, but I don't go enough to warrant the need of the expensive big name brands. While those are probably better (should be for how expensive they are), these honestly work perfectly fine. READ the directions, I bet many people complaining on here used the telescoping feature wrong. You twist the actual pole you want to extend, NOT the basket (black connecting piece). Lightweight, comfortable, durable as far as I can tell and $25 a pair!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good For the Price,, July 8, 2011

I bought this for my best friend who wanted to start hiking to get in shape and lose a little weight while also taking some pressure off her knees and back. She's about 5"2 and has had some issues with the locking mechanism, which is really her only complaint. It may just be her particular pole or it maybe her comfort with it, but she's taken to not collapsing it for storage since it's been tough to get it to lock once it's unlocked. However, she uses it frequently for short hikes and it seems to make her feel better and more balanced. I've noticed that she is more enthusiastic about hiking since using it. It was an excellent price and I'm happy that I bought it for her, but some people might be put off by the locking issue.

4.0 out of 5 stars New Guy with new Hiking Poles, January 15, 2012

I'm new to using hiking poles, but I have a worn out knee due to artheritis. I decided to try some hiking poles to help me with mobility. I wanted them to be easy to store or carry also.
I am very pleased with the mobility that these poles have given me. For the first time in a long time I can walk from the far side of the Walmart parking lot without suffering a lot of pain.
I can also navigate my very rough rural driveway without being afraid that my ankles will fail me and twist.
The poles are light enough that I can walk into a restaurant with the two poles in one hand and not look like I am setting off to conquer an Alpine mountain.
I am very pleased with my purchase.

I started to look for hiking poles for an old friend of mine that do some mountain hiking and was willing to get one, so I offered to help him out and found this hiking pole at the right price and weight, so after receiving the first one I inmediately order 3 more, another one for my friend because I did not know that they are supposed to be used as a pair, and a couple for me that I think I would be using them when the terrain is slippery or when hiking with my family.
