2.0 out of 5 stars works but falls apart, June 30, 2009
Good price and the lights work well (just used them on a climb of Mt. Hood, Oregon), but the wrist strap came off during the climb and one of the locking collars came loose and slides along the pole. Be prepared to make some field repairs if you use these poles.

thanks

4.0 out of 5 stars Hiking poles, August 25, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Swiss Gear Lighted Hiking Pole, 2 Pack (Sports)
I used a friend's Swiss Gear hiking poles on two hikes up in Glacier National Park recently. They saved me from the knee pain I usually get while going downhill and so I decided to buy a pair of my own. Since I had no problem with my friend's poles I decided to buy Swiss Gear poles. The pair I purchased have built in LED lights. I'm not sure if I'll ever go hiking in the dark, but since we have been known to take a wrong turn once in a while you never know when a built in light might come in handy. I had trouble adjusting one of the poles, I kept turning it in the "lock" direction but it didn't lock. I was sure I'd have to send it back but my daughter worked on it a while and finally got it to lock. I have only used the poles four times since I've had them. The trail near my house is paved and I use the rubber tips that are included with the poles. The trail has many steep hills and I have not had any knee or joint problems. So far so good!

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality gear, August 3, 2009
By
I purchased a pair of these based on the cheap price compared to other hiking poles. I am a light hiker and used the poles only for gradual descents down hills. About the fourth time I used these, the lower shaft on one pole broke and it would no longer extend to it's full length. On the other pole, the tip had already broken off after the second use, but that part I could live with. Overall, these appear to be nothing more than typical Chinese made junk. Avoid these and pay more for better poles.
