Yes, you can make your own. Recipies abound. Simply buy an armload of cheese, open a bottle of wine, chop some garlic, pour in your kirsch. . . .what - you're tired of this project already? You say you just wanted some cheese? there's no-one to impress tonight? the state liquor store is closed? you can't find your grater? what the heck is kirsch? You'd rather keep your $27 and not have to drink the rest of that white wine?

OH, then pay $10 and buy this box. Zero to bubbly cheese in 5 minutes. Cut bread. Dip. Still drink the wine because that is totally awesome.

I've been a fan of Swiss Knight fondue for years, but have only been able to find it at home in Vermont, not where I live now. It is so delightful to be able to order this treat anytime! BTW, I agree with the suggestion to heat the fondue before putting in fondue pot--microwave works fine, so does melting in the top half of a double boiler.

This product is excellent tasting and easy to use. I've tried to make my own cheese fondue and it just siezes up on me. This stays creamy and is excellent on crusty bread.

This product is wondeful for a "In a hurry" fondue. I have used it at several of my own parties only to recieve compliments. It's important to melt it BEFORE you put it in your fondue maker in the microwave on high for about 3 minutes. I think it is very good and if used properly and not just heated over a wimpy flame can be a hit at any party.

We live in a remote area and cannot find this type of product anywhere. Company quickly filled my order and we were able to enjoy. Product is MUCH BETTER than a lame substitute I found in an Asheville, NC supermarket... this is tasty (altho I knew to add white wine to make it smoother - the package never mentioned that !) and you will enjoy a quick fondue meal...

I have been eating Swiss Cheese Fondue since the mid-seventies when it was "in vogue". Swiss Knight Fondue is one of the two premier fondues that has survived the "test of time" and is of the highest quality.

I am in my sixties now but still enjoy this premiere fondue as long as I exercise to get the calories off and the LDLs out of my system!!! That aside, I truly look forward to having this savory dish at least once every several weeks.

Back in the seventies, a lot of New York restaurants (especially those that were Swiss, of course) offered fondue. The prices rose from the tens to the twenties for a delicious pot of fondue and bread as the time expanded from the seventies into the eighties and eventually the nineties.

The price that Amazon offers is on the low-end and allows one to savor the exquisite taste of a marvelous meal for a fraction of what it would cost at any restaurant on the East or West Coast, or, for that matter, in-between.

I live in the Central States now but I can attest to the fact that a pot of Swiss Cheese Fondue in lower Wisconsin at a popular Swiss restaurant costs $22+ ... twice the purchase price of Swiss Knight fondue from Amazon !!!

Swiss Knight Fondue is something I remember fondly from when I was a kid--fondue was popular in the 70s and 80s, and we had this from time to time. I was pleasantly surprised when I found it's still available--it even still has the same packaging it used to! But best of all, Swiss Knight turns out to be one of those few things you remember from your childhood that turn out to be just as good as they seemed at the time. It's not cheap, especially when ordered online with shipping charges--but you'd be hard-pressed to find a substitute of equal quality.

The fondue pack is also easy to use. Cut up some bread, maybe steam some vegetables for better variety--and nutrition--in dipping (I find broccoli works very well for this, as it absorbs the cheese and goes well with the flavor). Then empty the packet into your chafing dish if you have one (use a small saucepan if you don't have one), and melt the cheese at low heat directly on the stovetop. That may sound wrong, but I've found if I use the fondue set's built-in burner to melt the cheese, some of it burns to the bottom, whereas the stovetop gives better control and allows a lower heat. Then transfer to your fondue set (or a hot plate), and dip away.

Love it! Great for an easy dinner gathering- will definitely need more than one for a couple of people. I used two boxes for two of us with a small amount left over. This is a nice tasting fondue, and very consistent in flavor and texture. I purchased my first boxed fondue from Whole Foods, and fell in love. Wanted to have this on hand for drop in guests - great purchase! Excellent customer service with this company too! I use an electric fondue heater, and it's also a dream!

Plan to order more and great to give as a gift! I love this fondue with bread cubes, grapes, and apples.
