I purchased this in a two pack with a flashlight. Two lights for the money but both are pretty weak. The light on the tool is better than the AAA light I got with it. As to the tool itself..pretty poor. If you pay $5 for it then you got your money's worth. More than that and I would recommend upgrading to the Gerber Bear Grylls compact multi-tool. The Swiss+Tech has a very lame serrated blade that isn't sharp, a second blade that is dull and the type of steel used overall isn't really the type you want to sharpen. If you don't like the Gerber option then upgrade to the Leatherman but avoid this tool unless you are looking for inexpensive. I own a lot of Swiss+Tech products and they are at times useful but overall the quality compared to the other two companies I mentioned is less than desirable. Swiss+Tech has a great return policy, anytime I have broken one of their gadgets I return it and they replace it for free with similar or better product.

Every tool has its purpose. This is not going to replace a pair of vice grips, a surefire, a benchmark or a wine opener. But, as a little tool to keep in your pocket, the pliers will hold a small nut, pull a staple, the knife & saw will cut through a wire tie, cord, small branch, the light will find the keyhole on your car door, the philips head will tighten a loose screw and the bottle opener will open some beer. I've purchased four of these (i've passed them onto co workers, and lost one) and my only gripe is that the pouch is terrible, and if you use it your risk losing the tool when the pouch tears off your belt.

This is a nice little tool for EDC, or to stuff into backpacks, etc... Fairly small when compared to a full sized Swiss tool, Leatherman tool, or Gerber tool.

The quality is fair I would say when the price is considered. I picked this one up for $4.99, and I think the flashlight alone is probably worth that price (the batteries probably cost that much).

This is the kind of multi-tool that would probably be best for light work, or occasional useage, I don't think it would stand up to everyday mechanic work, or something like that.

UNBOXING

Well packaged item, it comes with the tool, instructions, and a nylon carrying pouch for your belt. Once out of the display packaging you fold out the frame (handles) to expose the pliers, then remove a plastic/rubber cover from the tip of the pliers. I found that the pliers were very tight on mine, and needed some oil to get them to spring open and operate smoothly.

OPERATION

Once the pliers were lubed up, they work well, frankly they work and at least feel of better quality than I expected for the price paid. The flashlight folds out of the frame in the closed position, and a quick twist of the flashlight head turns it on and off, about a quarter of a turn. It's pretty bright, not anything like a Fenix or Surefire, but this is most likely an occasional use item anyway. It's enough light to find something in the dark for sure. The knife, can opener, screw driver, and serrated blade (really more like a small saw blade) fold out of the other side of the frame. These tools seem to be less durable than the pliers and would be best for occasional or light useage.

I'll go over some of the pros and cons from my experience.

PROS:

Small footprint
Seems well made, and pretty durable
Nicely packaged, colorful, attention grabber
The frame and pliers seem to be as durable as other makers
Flashlight is a pretty bright LED type, would be useful in a pinch
The tools are all tight in the frame, they seem fairly durable

CONS:

The pen-kinfe blade on mine at least is not straight/flat (slightly off)
The Phillips screwdriver head is not straight (slightly off)
The tools other than the flashlight and pliers seem to be made of less durable metal than more expensive tools

Overall:

I like trinkets and tools which are small and easy to carry, again this one would not replace more durable tools for heavy usage, but this one can be attached to your key ring for everyday carry and occasional usage. I think it will last a decent amount of time for the price it costs. If the knife blades/can opener/ screw driver were better made and more durable I think this one would be a real contender to the more expensive multi-tools, I rated this at four stars due to that.

Overall I'm happy with it, and I think it is one of the best of the smaller multi-tools for the asking price. I reccomend this item.

Bought this swiss tech multitool at radio shack on sale for 5 bucks. At first I was very happy with the tool, but within a week it began to fall apart. Had to fix it with my own screw (came off the keychain ring and came unattached from the ring and fell off completely) and superglue. But now I must say I love this little tool. Not the greatest quality but I also didn't pay anywhere near the price of a leatherman. The tool has come in handy so many times in the past 2 months I've had it. I love the flashlight, pliers, knife blade and have even used the screwdriver a time or two. Size is perfect, not too big for key ring or in your pocket. Overall, can't complain even though I had to fix it once...for 5 bucks I would definitely buy another one.

This is a cool little tool. It's a bit big for a key chain. It's about the same size as the picture. It came with a pouch.

I am more than thoroughly satisfied with it. I had a knockoff of it from Cabela's, and this one is superior in all respects. Well worth the price.

I had this tool for less than 12 hours before it broke. I wasn't doing ANYTHING with it. As soon as i picked up my keys to go to work (Swiss tech tool attached) one of the bolts used to hold in the the Knife the screw drive and the bottle opener popper out and everything became unattached. Leaving the tool useless. Go get the leatherman instead. at least if it breaks you can get a new one.

Sure, you can get bigger tools with more blades and such but for an everyday carry, bug-out-bag this is a handy little device. The knife is serviceable as a backup and the light provides an amazing output for being so small. Good deal for the price.
