I've been a chef for over twenty years and these are by far the best peeler out there. I use them daily in my restaurant and they last around two years.

I would imagine that they would last a lifetime when used in the home.

This is the same peeler that the late Joe Ades sold in NYC. Do a search on Youtube for him. This, my friends, is indeed the famous Star Peeler (check the engraving in the side of the handle when you get it). I bought one of these things about 10 years ago, and the blade is still sharp. I am only buying a new one because I bent the hand through misuse - but the thing still works!

Like a previous reviewer said, this will last a lifetime. Dishwasher safe - never rusts. There is a "Star Peeler" with a black blade, but the blade is prone to rust (it went through thte dishwasher after the first use, and came out rusted). Though that one may not have been "dishwasher safe", it still think it should not rust on the first go.

Anyway, buy it!

This is the sharpest peeler I have ever tried. I have 3 other brands in the drawer but Swissmar is sharp, trim & light.I cook alot-sharp tools are important.
I am totally satisfied.
