I gave several of these sets as gifts, and they were appreciated by all. The nut holder lets you display just the right amount of nuts in the shell, and the handy cracker is of good quality, so it's useful as well as handy. Lots of family and visitors will crack and eat nuts in the shell if you make it easy for them, and that's exactly what this product does. Do have a bowl beside it for them to put the shells into. For informal visits, sitting around talking and cracking nuts gives a homey feeling to the gathering and encourages that welcoming feeling we all strive for.
