Product Description

Color: Brown, Green and Yellow

This isn't just another peeler set. Proprietary technology from Switzerland has given our Swiss Classic peelers a few new edges. These blades are scalpel sharp - this means less effort to peel and a thinner peel with every stroke. Swissmar's peeler set of three includes: one serrated peeler, one julienne peeler, one scalper peeler. Use the scalpel blade peeler for hard fruits and vegetables such as apples and potatoes. It can also be used to shave hard cheeses and chocolate. The serrated blade peeler is great for more delicate fruits and vegetables such as kiwis, mangoes and tomatoes. Use the julienne blade to create thin julienne sticks on carrots, zucchini, cucumbers and more. Side cutter on each peeler removes eyes and blemishes from produce or can cut grooves in fruits and vegetables. Suitable for left and right handed use, dishwasher safe, Made in Switzerland.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super sharp and easy to use *updated 9/7/12* July 8, 2011
Color Name:Brown, Green and Yellow|Amazon Verified Purchase
Length: 7:01 Mins
Pros:
super sharp scalpel blade that easily peels through carrots, zucchini, and even butternut squash

The serrated soft food blade actually works on hard to peel tomatoes and kiwi fruit

The julienne blade is okay for small decorative julienne cuts

comfortable hand feel and easy to use

Cons:
Only one blade guard included

julienne blade gets tiring to use on big job and begins to clog and get hard to clean while trying to julienne something like a zucchini

I would recommend doing a little looking around as Amazon sells these in different configurations and separately. If I were buying these again I'd go with a less expensive set without the julienne blade, and there are sets with blade guards for every peeler.

Great product.

*updated*

Over a year of near constant use on the regular peeler, and probably twice a week on the serrated peeler. I have no rust, I do wash these by hand, no degrading of either the sharpness or the plastic. I can't believe how much I love these peelers. I did give away the julienne but the other two are total winners.

I made a peach pie today, was able to just peel the peaches with the serrated peeler, no blanching or waiting or mess, it works perfectly. I peel kiwi, tomatoes etc with such ease. The regular veggie peeler continues to peel everything from carrots, potatoes, squash, asparagus, from delicate and fine to heavy and hard this little swissmar peels them all. I love these two peelers, just wish I had known about the serrated one years ago, all the time and effort I would have saved!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best peeler I've ever used!!!!! January 14, 2009
Color Name:Brown, Green and Yellow|Amazon Verified Purchase
I thought (at first) that they seemed somewhat cheaply made because of the plastic handles. Boy...was I ever wrong! The wide plastic handles are easier to hold and manipulate than a standard thin metal one. The plastic is extremely light and great for folks with arthritic hands (like me).

BE VERY CAREFUL! This is not to be used by children or inept/clumsy individuals as the cutting blades are EXTREMELY sharp.

The sharp cutting blade glides effortlessly through potatoes, carrots and other veggies. I haven't used the julienne blade yet but I'm sure it will be terrific.

I have a drawer full of the major name brand peelers and they are soon to go into the garbage.

I have been looking for a potato peeler that was this easy for years! These peelers almost make peeling potatoes FUN!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works as Advertised August 12, 2009
By Nelson
Color Name:Brown, Green and Yellow|Amazon Verified Purchase
After searching reviews for peelers, including the one advertised on TV which has shipping costs that are more than the peelers, I settled on this one. Why? Good reviews and it's carried by some of the better stores. After resding the only other review on Amazon for this peeler Idecided I would try it. It works just as well as the Amazon reviewer said, too. The handles may not look as professional as some, but they are very comfortable in the hand. The blades are very sharp and take thin slices. This is the best set of peeler I have owned. I'd reccommend this to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great addition to the kitchen May 7, 2010
Color Name:Brown, Green and Yellow
I love these peelers. Kitchen gadgets make preparing food fun. The 'red' peeler is great for peeling kiwi for fruit salads. The 'yellow' peeler is great for peeling carrots into julienne slices for salads. I would recommend these to anyone!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nifty set, but maybe buy a single one first June 22, 2011
Color Name:Green, White and Blue|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
I'm quite happy using a 79 cent basic peeler that you can buy at almost any supermarket. I've occasionally purchased a more expensive "boutique" peeler to see if I'm missing something, but so far: nope. I'm no culinary expert or kitchen whiz, but I do cook regularly, and peeling fruits and vegetables is an ubiquitous task.

Handy tip: if you're interested but unsure about purchasing this set, consider getting just the Swissmar basic scalpel peeler by itself. If you like, you can subsequently get this set (and have an extra scalpel peeler), or add either or both of the serrated or julienne peelers.

This is definitely a step up from the 79 cent basic supermarket peeler. It's sharper, faster, smoother, and better looking. I used the basic scalpel peeler on cucumbers and potatoes quite nicely, gliding quickly and efficiently in removing the skin of both. One thing I noticed is that these work more like a disposable razor in how you hold them. For guys, at least, think how you hold a razor and scrape downward on your cheeks. The basic 79 cent supermarket peeler is held at a 90 degree angle to the vegetable. This isn't good or bad, but it was different for me. Check out the picture of the OXO Good Grips Swivel Peeler, for example, and compare how you would use it considering the picture of these peelers. If you've never used a peeler with this "disposable razor" design, consider my earlier suggestion of just getting one basic peeler, or some other product with the same design, before going all in.

The serrated blade performed super sharp, super smooth peeling on a couple of large tomatoes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Versatile and fancy! October 7, 2010
Color Name:Brown, Green and Yellow|Amazon Verified Purchase
This Swissmar peeler set is awesome - sharp and exacting, easy to use, with professional results. The soft skin peeler worked great on fresh tomatoes, plums, and soft nectarines! The julienne peeler has revolutionized the way I prepare and present food - you can julienne just about anything for artistic presentation. I julienned a zucchini into strings and lightly floured them and baked them as a pasta alternative to use a garden full of tomatoes - brilliant! The potato peeler worked well on my ill-placed fingertip.

The peeler set does need to be thoroughly washed and dried by hand immediately after use, and seems a bit fragile, but at this price, I would buy again and again as necessary.

Happy peeling!
