I got this book over the summer to learn more about photography. Boy, it teaches you a lot! This book tells about camera types, panoramas, memory cards, filters, cleaning equipment, software, and much more! Even though I have a few other photography books, this one still seems to be fine. If you are a beginner, this is the book you are looking for. This book is more of the basic type, but tells you what you need to know to begin learning about photography. I mean, it doesn't teach you any "not obvious" tricks. This book is also a "serious" book-a clown did not write this book. If you have already read some beginner books, I recommend The Digital Photography Book by Scott Kelby. He teaches some tricks that are nice to know to provide sharpness, and uniqueness. He is a funny person-always joking around, which makes it fun to read his book. The Digital Photography Book says it's for point-and-shoot cameras, too, but is really for SLR cameras and "almost pro cameras". This book, (Switch to Digital) is for both SLR camera users and point-and-shoot camera users. Both books have excellent pictures. The Digital Photography Book also tells what gear Scott Kelby, (the author) uses, but you can go to William Cheung's website (www.williamcheung.co.uk)to see what his gear is. Overall, this is an excellent book for beginners. I don't regret getting it!
