5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious Modern Adaptation!
Despite comments made by the reviewer from NY - I think you'll find this to be an absolute roar of laughs! A smooth and hilarious "modern" translation of The Front Page and His Girl Friday. What the other reviewer didn't understand is that these are supposed to be caricatures of real people and situations - not an actual behind the scenes look at a 24HR news channel. If...

3.0 out of 5 stars A Good film about the perils of broadcast TV
This film is a funny look behind the scenes at a News station. Kathleen Turner, Burt Reynolds and Christopher Reeve make a funny trio, Reynolds being the boss and jealous ex husband of Kathleen Turner, Reeve the new romantic attraction of Turner in a refreshing role that takes him away from Superman. What follows is them trying to get a convicted cop killer Ike Roscoe...

If that's what you're looking for you might be better off with Broadcast News.

Originally written for Broadway in the 1930's the producers/writers have done an amazing job of writing it for the then-current 1990's.

Very quick, fast paced dialogue - this isn't for the mental midgets of the world who are used to having their movies hand delivered to them. To keep up you have to sharp, sharp, sharp!

Bravo for the casting director - well done! Special kudos to Ned Beatty who is gut bustingly funny as District Attorney Roy Ridnitz! Keep trying to read his lips as he only marginally controls profane slurs about reporters.

Lots of rapid fire quips at every turn! You won't go wrong with Switching Channels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Equal to His Girl Friday, May 5, 2011

Yes, it's a remake and Burt Reynolds is no Cary Grant. That said, however, this has a lot more of the story for the woman's role. Plus Reeves is simply great in his metro-sexual role and the third wheel. But most of all, the killer who is set to die was crazy as a loon in His Girl Friday. He needed to be put away. But Henry Gibson?? Come on, who wouldn't root for him? It's apples and ornges, because my wife and I love both shows. With all of the garbage out there today, it's a breath of fresh air.

4.0 out of 5 stars The last REALLY good Burt Reynolds movie!, October 16, 2006

(REAL NAME)
Although I admit, Mystery, Alaska wasn't bad.
All three main stars, Reynolds, Kathleen(Body
Heat) Turner and Christopher [Equestrian-para-
lysis accident] Reeve are superb. Reeve plays
a slightly younger, rich Exec. trying to court
and win Turner's hand. He's about to, until
'still-in-love', ex-hubby, ex-boss, REYNOLDS
her producer, steals her back - barely! Fun
and games and based on zionist Ben Hecht's
"The Front Page", combined with "His Girl
Friday". Four stars ONLY out of Five. Small
flaws here and there but overall fine effort.

5.0 out of 5 stars Movie that Brought Laughter Back after Chris Reeve's..., November 14, 2003
accident... I was depressed for a long time after that... I tuned this movie on one of the Cable Channels late one night, and I laughed so hard that I scared my father out of bed... He thought that I was crying!

I thought that the film was a scream! Burt Reynolds was funny as always.. Chris Reeve was a Riot as the preppy millionare that totally flipped out when the elevator got stuck! That was so--- un Chris like... But that was what made it funny...

It showed that the former husbend still loved his wife... Some of the ploys to make her stay were really wild... This film is a hoot... I think that it is a great film for those that need a good laugh...

What follows is them trying to get a convicted cop killer Ike Roscoe from getting the electric chair. And Reynolds doing everything in his power to stop Turner from marrying Reeve which involves him ssending him up a lift in a skyscraper when he has a serious case of vertigo (one of the best scenes in the movie) and having his assistants ring up the airport and train centres trying to book up every flight that goes out to New York This is a very funny film and worth a watch
