4.0 out of 5 stars Dual Scabbard, May 19, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Love it. I finally have a home for my two Japanese swords. The case was perfect, clean, well packed, and arrived in excellent condition.
Let me explain the change from 5 to 4 stars. I ended up buying two cases. The first one was cherry-wood stained, and perfect. I had wanted two of those, but amazon had only one in stock with free supersaver shipping. So I ended up getting the 2nd case in walnut stain. It arrived with the velvet backing wrinkeled and with white fibers all over, requiring cleaning first. Then the plexiglass window was in need of cleaning, as well, and had sprung at one point and I had to push it back in behind the retainer. Since amazon does not permit individual reviews for each of these cases, I had to knock both of them back one star. On this one, just so you know what might have to be done at times to get things the way you need them, and this has nothing to do with the rating of the case, but functionality. The included holders of the second case, which is to house two curved Kilij, from the Ottoman Empire, keep sliding, when I set the case upright, as I would have to, once I hang it up. Each time the weight of the scimitars forces the supports to slide and the whole mess tumbles down. I will drill two little woodscrews through those holder bases into the lower wall of the case to keep that from happening. Just FYI.
