Never been more disappointed,

This is far and away the worst item I have ever received from Tiger Claw. The blade itself is fine, but the fittings were shoddily constructed and I've hade to completely disassemble and reprofile the scabbard because it hade been made to such a bad fit that the sword couldn't be drawn (it took two people five minutes to get it out the first time). The "presentation box" was missing a catch and the emboidery was damaged because someone somewhere along the production line had swathed it in sellotape. It will take me hours of work to bring this sword up to a presentable condition, and that's not what I paid the (overly steep) price tag for. Normally I highly recommend Tiger Claw products, but in this instance I have never been more disappointed.

Everything came on the third day after ordering. If you are looking for a "mean" two hand straightsword, then this is what you have been waiting for. I suggest you take about 1 pound of 20 gauge steel wire and coil it around the bottom of the handle to give your sword a better balance point closer to the guard. Its much easier to wield a balanced seven pound sword, than swing a front heavy six pound sword. After you coil up the wire, I suggest using hockey or baseball bat tape and just wrap over the handle for grip. (Nothing wrong with tape)I suggest a fair amount of skill before using this for training; especially a great amount of wrist strength and flexibility. You may pop out your wrist, damage muscles or tendons. Gradually build into this weapon rather than dive into it. If you just want to display it, then its fine the way it is. Good Luck |
