2.0 out of 5 stars Looks nice, poorly balanced, August 4, 2006
This review is from: Tai Chi Sword Yin Yang Modernized Style Classic Design (Misc.)
This sword is pleasing to look at, but not very good as a practice weapon. The weighting is poor--the handle is way too light (being plastic) and it is not hollow enough to allow for adding some weight internally. Don't buy this sword if you actually plan on using it.

spend a few more dollars and buy the Red Chinese Tai Chi Swords. It's only a little more and it is a much better deal! I bought both at the same time.

I've used this sword for Kung Fu practice and competition (Snake jian dao sword form, Southern longarm style), as well as for sword dance in dance concerts. It's well constructed, with a slightly flexible blade, and balances 3" ahead of the guard after I added a 32" tassel. My instructor (sifu) and my master instructor (sigung) approve of it, and I've won several gold medals with it in competition. The blade is marked "stainless" and is mirror bright (excellent for competition and stage), but is of an alloy that is resilient and tends to rust and must be kept polished. I'm extremely pleased with it!
