5.0 out of 5 stars jian dao
I've used this sword for Kung Fu practice and competition (Snake jian dao sword form, Southern longarm style), as well as for sword dance in dance concerts. It's well constructed, with a slightly flexible blade, and balances 3" ahead of the guard after I added a 32" tassel. My instructor (sifu) and my master instructor (sigung) approve of it, and I've won several gold...

2.0 out of 5 stars Looks nice, poorly balanced
This sword is pleasing to look at, but not very good as a practice weapon. The weighting is poor--the handle is way too light (being plastic) and it is not hollow enough to allow for adding some weight internally. Don't buy this sword if you actually plan on using it.

spend a few more dollars and buy the Red Chinese Tai Chi Swords. It's only a little more and it is a much better deal! I bought both at the same time.

It's well constructed, with a slightly flexible blade, and balances 3" ahead of the guard after I added a 32" tassel. My instructor (sifu) and my master instructor (sigung) approve of it, and I've won several gold medals with it in competition. The blade is marked "stainless" and is mirror bright (excellent for competition and stage), but is of an alloy that is resilient and tends to rust and must be kept polished. I'm extremely pleased with it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Sword, October 12, 2009

The sword is light, long and thin, making it very nice to look. Ii is also good for beginners to practice. However, I spent about 2 hours on pulling it out from the sheath which is too tight.

2.0 out of 5 stars unbalanced sword, January 8, 2009
This review is from: Tai Chi Sword Yin Yang Modernized Style Classic Design (Misc.)
This sword is nice for display only, the body is too long while the handle is small and short which make it unbalance when practice, you can use to"cut" like broadsword but have hard time to "point" for a strike.
Don't recomended it...

3.0 out of 5 stars Ying Yang Sword, November 1, 2010
This review is from: Tai Chi Sword Yin Yang Modernized Style Classic Design (Misc.)
When I recieved my sword it didn't look as pretty as the picture. The blade was a bit loose but it takes a second to tighten. The blade isn't as flexible as I would like and the scabbard was scratched to hell like someone kicked it across the floor.

Nothing fancy. Good enough. Don't like the synthetic tassle material because it snags too easily.
