Product Description

Were the Prophet Muhammad's words divine or were they caused by epilepsy?

The Middle East is aflame with war, and the conflict between East and West is so pronounced that some are calling it World War III. The fighting is not so much between nations as between the forces of religions.

Few men have affected mankind as much as the Prophet Muhammad. But since the early years of Islam there have been those who have questioned if his revelations were divine or were the result of an epileptic condition. Although many authors have investigated this notion, there has never been a comprehensive examination of the matter until Sword and Seizure. This book is an in-depth investigation of the question. The book also shows you how Islam began, and how it developed.

About the Author

Abbas Sadeghian, an experienced American Iranian psychologist, was born and raised in Iran. He received a degree in clinical neuropsychology in the United States. He is well-versed in the history of the Middle East and has the personal knowledge and education to examine the question: Was the source of the Prophet Muhammad's inspiration divine revelation or it was caused by epilepsy?

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Easy Read, December 11, 2006
Dr. Sadeghian's thesis about the rise of Muhammad and Islam is very interesting and a very easy read for the layperson. His explanations and descriptions are interesting and certainly gives one something to contemplate. His facts seem based upon real circumstances and his explanations are coherent and compelling. I would recommend this book highly for those interested in learning more about Muhammad and Isalm.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting and insightful!, August 26, 2007
Dr. Sadeghians take on the epilepsy of Muhammad was very insightful. This book not only explained the life of Muhammad but also gave me a better understanding of Islam itself. Sword and Seisure was very easy to read and I would recomend it to anyone!

1.0 out of 5 stars Scholarly work, January 20, 2007
This book is informative and easy to read. At the same time it is a scholarly work. The author has based his psychological analysis of Muhammad on authentic and reliable sources. It should be noted that the theology of Islam is based on these same sources that the author has consulted and referenced.
The book would be educational and of interest to those who are attempting to familiarize themselves with the life of Muhammad, his personality development, and the historical environment in which he lived. But this book would be of even more interest to those who are learned about the subject because the author has thoroughly researched and supported the thesis he is proposing.
