First, you may have to buy Molex adapter (most new motherboards don't have it).
Second, DO NOT use the CD that comes with the product.
Go here:
[...] and download the latest driver for "VL800 & VL801 USB 3.0 Host Controller"
Shutdown the PC, install the card and start up.
Please run "SETUP.exe" from the drivers you just downloaded before.
Installation is completed. You may start using your USB 3.0 ports now.

One other thing to note - even though manual says the power is optional to attach to this card, however the card will NOT work until you attach the power cable. (the card will be recognized, however, any devices connected to usb 3.0 port will not be recognized, if the power cable is not attached).

For the external hard drive connected to these USB 3.0 ports -- the throughput I'm seeing is about 125/80 MB/s (read/write). No disconnects or any issues with using these ports at all.

For those who don't know, the Molex connector on the card is NOT an EXTRA connector....this Molex connector MUST connect to your POWER SOURCE in order for the card to work....Just thought you should know....

I installed two different boards each with two USB 3.0 ports; neither card worked reliability (even after upgrading the firmware). Each card had a NEC/Renesas controller on it. In desperation I bought this card. This Syba four port card worked perfectly right from the gitgo. It has a VIA controller on it. Fast, simple install. Reliable operation. Full USB 3.0 speed. Four ports. Excellent.

I recently bought a INWIN Mana134 case which has a 2x USB 3.0 port attached to the case but I got a USB 2.0 Motherboard that does NOT have a 3.0 header slot. I need a USB 3.0 PCI with 19 header and this works! I previously bought a no name brand USB 3.0 PCI with 19 header and could not get it to work, tried multiple drivers and to no avail.
I am on Windows 7 64BIT Professional. I installed the PCI, attached the power, and the 19 header (front 2x USB 3.0) and booted up, installed the VLI driver and restarted, the 2x USB 3.0 in the back are recognized and 2x USB 3.0 front are recognized. I will update with speed test

This card causes my Windows 7 computer to reboot when either of my two Android devices are plugged into it. No errors are reported at all, it just reboots. I've got 25 years of PC hardware experience and spent 2 hours trying everything I could to isolate the issue. The card installed fine and Windows was happily seeing the device and not reporting any issue. More than likely this card doesn't like something about my computer (such as another device that is installed), but my computer seems happy with itself, so this card has to go!

I imagine most people won't have an issue as Syba is known to make competent products, but in my case I need to try another manufacturer...

I had no problem with installation or functionality. Make sure that you also purchase a SATA-Molex power cable to power the I/O card for newer computers with SATA only power supplies.

For example: KingWin SATA Power Adapter Cable (SAC-05)

Beware of cards that don't at least list the chipset manufacturer. They may switch to a crummy vendor to save a buck after the good reviews come in. This card worked for me. I have an expensive EVGA Z68 FTW motherboard with a cheap, crummy VIA USB-3 built-in device where transfers fail and the device just disappears from Device Manager. New drivers don't help and EVGA never provided firmware that corrects the problems. Putting a piece of tape over the EVGA rear USB-3 connectors and then adding this board provided a decent fix. It turns out the EVGA only has one slot fast enough for this board to hit top speed.

This board has never had a hiccup while transferring or problems coming out of sleep or hibernate.

I chose to give the Syba SD-PEX20122 2 Port USB 3.0 with 19 Pin Header PCI-E x1 Card a shot in my Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 (rev. 1.0) for two reasons:

1. It's one of the few PCI-E USB 3.0 expansion cards that actually has a header that I can use to connect to the front USB ports. Most other cards have a USB port on the card itself which I find kinda useless since the header itself supports 2 ports instead of just 1.
2. It's based on the VIA USB 3.0 host controller which is supposed to be more reliable than the NEC/Renesas that's on the Gigabyte Motherboard

To make a long story short... I couldn't get it to work with Windows 7 64-bit. One review on another very popular shopping site for computer components stated that the reviewer (who had the same mobo) had to upgrade to the Gigabyte UEFI BIOS to get it to work.

I tried that and I had no luck. I tried various things like: disabling the onboard USB 3.0 ports, changing the BIOS and playing around with various combinations of the BIOS settings including xHCI and eHCI hand-offs.

No matter what I tried it still wouldn't work. The expansion card was recognized by Windows but the peripherals I plugged in (USB 2.0 and USB 3.0) wouldn't work or even get power. I tried to different versions of the drivers (1.80A and 1.90A) but still no luck. There's always a possibility that the one I received was defective but I really didn't want to waste any more time on this and there are no signs that it was indeed defective.

So it went back. Not recommended. USB 3.0 still seems to be in its infancy.
