Installed this for a faster connection to my USB 3.0 HDD. Had to download the driver from [...] as I tossed the box with the CD in it.

This card works well. However for virtualization users, this card does not use a Pci to pci bridge so the ports cannot be assigned to different VMs using VT-D like certain 4 port asmedia cards.

I had checked this host, the design work well with ISO transfer, However, when connecting with multiple USB30 Thumb drives, this host does not work well.

I think this hardware need to improve.
I think the Fresco Logic host would be the better one.

use this to get USB 3.0 support on an older rig without onboard, mobo support for usb 3.0. Nice card needed to use the drivers Server 2008, but with 2012 r2 was pleased to find support native with the OS. Bought another card with six ports two external and 4 internal for another rig. Also by these for clients for older rigs builds who want USB 3.0 w/o upgrading to a new mobo. Really like the units with both SATA III and USB ports. Nice company, cards. If you need multiport SATA and both external and internal USB ports read the documentation, look in the support forums, and verify with tech support that the cards fully support SATA multiport. Look at the specs if you need both external and interanl USB ports to work. Some cards with both ports will have one or the other disabled. You get only internal or external not both. The newer models and those with more than two ports of both usually let you use all the USB headers. Check to for any features you need to toggle or jumper on and off on the card, that can't be set or enabled by drivers but need a hardware switch. Check as well for driver support with older versions of Windows. Win 8.x and 2012/R2 should have native USB 3.0 driver support. Check too on the need to tweak BIOS settings for EHCI tweaks or esoteric settings you may need to toggle on older boards to get the most from your add/on card.
