After going with the cheaper halogen bulbs for a while, I tried this one. A couple of big differences:

- Long bulb life. The cheaper brands last for a few months if that. This bulb looks a little different form other halogens of this size (although it fits fine in the lamp), with a thicker filament by the look of it, which may account for the difference in bulb lifetime.

- No buzz! The plague of halogen lamps is that, while they have a dimmer, the lamp buzzes annoyingly if the dimmer is turned down. With this bulb, there is almost no buzz, even with the lamp almost off. (You can hear a little buzz if you're right on top of the lamp, but move a couple of feet away and it's unaudible.)

Quality German engineering for the win.

Much, much brighter than the Phillips bulbs you will see at your local Lowes/Home Depot

We had a hard time finding a good bulb for our torchiere, but this has been perfect. It's bright enough to light the entire living room from above (we have no overhead lights, so this is important!) and it's absolutely silent. It makes a very soft buzz if the dimmer switch is turned almost all the way down, but other than that, you can sit under it to read without being disturbed.


The smallest items really do make a big difference!

This worked fine for 3 months, but now has burned out. I can't give it more than 1 star for that. I'm ordering another because it's cheap and free shipping, but am obviously hoping for better usage.

I received the second bulb and again it worked for 3 months and has now burned out again! 0 stars for this product. I'll have to go to my local hardware store to pick up a bulb now.

The bulb in our halogen torchiere lamp burned out and the local lamps store said those bulbs aren't made any more. I found lots to choose from on Amazon and ended up ordering the Sylvania. It fit the lamp and has been working without any problem. Haven't had it long enough to comment on length of bulb life. Providing there's no problem there, I would buy another one of these next time I need a bulb.

I bought the bulb pretty much exactly 1 month ago and today it went out. Could be a fluke but sure is annoying to have to order another one. Won't be this brand again.

I am very disappointed with this product, it failed 7 months after use of about 4 hours a day. I dont think it is if high quality as manufactureres pretend it is.

This bulb beats out the standard bulbs in brightness and life hands down. The price here is less than what I have been able to find them for in stores. A lot of stores seem to be out of stock of this as well. Glad it is available here from plenty of companies. Will come back to buy more if I need them.

I was looking for a replacement bulb for my torchiere lamp, giving the fact of such excellent Price (Free Shipping) & after reading all the wonderful reviews i decided to order 2.

I was very well delighted how the Seller took so much care in Packaging each bulb individually in bubble wrap,then put into the box securely within a box. The packaging itself was beyond Superb.

Bulb itself worked flawless, Bright & I heard no buzz or hums. Although this bulb was like 1/8 of a inch shorter then my original, to me it was no problem at all to correct. all i had to do is adjust the contact points on my lamp forward,Nothing at all to do with the bulb itself.

Installed successfully and worked when I used it the first night. Turned it on the next day and it did not work. I was careful to not touch the bulb with my hands, and used a tissue...tried to 'reboot' by removing the bulb and re-installing. No dice. I thought maybe the dimmer switch had gone belly-up. What a bummer! But then, I bought a cheaper two-pack of bulbs at a local hardware store today. Just installed it, and it's working fine so far. I'm going to try and return the bulb; for me, this was a spendy purchase.
