4.0 out of 5 stars Cheap, but it works
Hey, Ive had other products from this company (Funai) and had one VCR go out within 90 days and Funai exchanged it for another one. Sure I had to call and wait to speak to someone, but whose customer service lines in electronics dont you have to wait for!!!

This vcr I got at another retailer and it has been good. I dont expect much for $50.00 bucks.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy!
I bought this VCR about three weeks ago at K-mart. It started eating my tapes 2 weeks ago so I took it back to K-mart ,they wouldn't take it back because I didn't have the box - what a stupid policy!! I then wrote a e-mail to Sylvania requesting a refund or replacement for the VCR telling them I still had the receipt and the accessories. I got a message back saying I...

I got a message back saying I would receive a response in 1 business day. That has been at least a week ago and still haven't heard anything. Sylvania's equipment is obviously made cheap and their Customer Service is horrible! Do not buy anything from them or K-mart!

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Cheap Piece of Equipment, December 29, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Sylvania 6260VD 4-Head VCR (Electronics)
This VCR is the worst I have owned. Although it has front and rear A/V inputs and rear A/V outputs (which is why I bought it), it plays and records some older tapes (1-2 years old) terribly. Store-bought releases play OK. With some of my older tapes recorded on VCRs I no longer own, the playback of some previously recorded and newly recorded older tapes is jittery and sometimes the entire screen starts "flipping" rendering any positive viewing experience impossible.

These same tapes will play perfectly on my 10 year old basic model Magnavox VCR.

This I believe is because of very cheap and poorly designed electronics and mechanism within the Sylvania. Very cheap all-plastic case, basically a tub with a top on it. Am not at all happy with it.

1.0 out of 5 stars piece of junk, November 1, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Sylvania 6260VD 4-Head VCR (Electronics)
When my old VCR gave up the ghost after several fruitful years, I replaced it with the Sylvania because I didn't want to spend a lot of money with DVD coming in strong. I moved to a new, smaller apt. and gave away all my tapes. I had a couple blank tapes if there was anything crucial I would want. My son needed some Animal Planet stuff (not on his cable company). I taped the first few shows OK, although there was no visible running tape counter. Then when I clicked on again to tape a show he wanted (he's a zookeeper) the screen suddenly said, English or Spanish. I thought I clicked on "English", but Spanish came up. Now all screen choices are in Spanish, but I can't get out of the loop for regular recording. I could get a picture, and the red recording light would go on, but it wasn't recording anything. And a tape I had with a program on it, it would not play back. I am stuck with thie piece of junk.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great little VCR, own two of them, working great, February 16, 2007
This review is from: Sylvania 6260VD 4-Head VCR (Electronics)
I own two of the Sanyo versions of these VCR's. They were manufactured as the SANYO vwm-950, and the Sylvania 6260vd. I have had one of these VCR's for 2 1/2 years now, and one for just over one year. Both are working well, play great, with good picture and sound. I have them fed into my surround sound system, and it is excellent to watch movies with. I highly recommend this vcr for a low cost good output, and reliable way to play your old videos. 4 heads, stereo input and output, easy to set up and use. Check these out, good buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars So far no problems, decent picture, stereo output, February 9, 2007

I have had my VCR a little while now, and I have had no problems. I bought mine on Clearance at Target as an additional VCR for my guest room. I wanted it because it offered Hi-fi output (my old one was mono). This VCR is very similar to the Mono 4 head VCR by emerson sold at Wal-martcurrently, and this model is exactlty the same as the VWM-950 Sanyo sold at wal-mart briefly. So far, I am happy with the performance, and have watched a few movies, even recorded a show. Yes, it is not a top of the line VCR, it feels cheaper and the remote feels the same way. I have a one year old Sony VCR and a 11 year old Panasonic VCR, heavy solid bricks that they are. But, as an extra player, this one was affordable and does its job well for me. Their are more solid VCRs like the sony or toshibas available for anywhere from 15-20 dollars more. Agree, VCR not for Heavy duty use, but good add in if you have mostly DVD's and need a VCR to play a few old VHS tapes.
Note: default is channel 3 output, this model does not have a channel 3 to 4 switch. There is a trick in the instruction book. I got worried when I saw this because omaha has a channel 3 that interferes with picture. turn the TV to channel 4, insert a tape and press play, and continue to hold play for about 10 seconds, and the VCR will automatically switch output to channel 4. Mine works well now, no complaints here for the price.

I purchased this VCR to watch old movies. It worked fine for couple of months, but then I stared having problems and they haven't stopped. Do not buy this item for any purpose.
