Videophiles with an eye for convenience will want to take note of Sylvania's compact 6615LE LCD television. The 15-inch set offers compatibility with progressive-scan 480p video signals (such as those from select DVD players and satellite receivers) as well as full 1080i high-definition TV signals from DTV set-top boxes. Now you can enjoy great picture quality in your kitchen, bedroom, or office without sacrificing a whole wall to a bulky TV or monitor.

The 6615LE offers a slim, 3.3-inch profile and an internal NTSC tuner for convenient broadcast-television viewing with features like auto channel setup, V-Chip parental controls, SAP (second audio program), and closed-caption decoding. Image quality benefits from a 3-line digital comb filter (which removes blurred edges between colors and reduces "dot crawl") alongside the set's native high brightness (500 candles/square meter), a high contrast ratio (500:1), and wide (170 x 155-degrees) viewing angles.

The main benefits of an LCD screen include the crystal clarity of images and their extremely compact form factor. The space-saving design of the 6615LE enables you to view television in any room of your home. And like all LCDs, this unit is immune to the distortion and negative color balances one may encounter when using a conventional CRT television near fluorescent lighting or speaker systems.

Two elliptical speakers radiate stereo sound from either side of the screen. For connections, you get 1 composite-video input for your DVD player, VCR, or other audio/video device, 1 S-video input, and a set of component-video inputs for your progressive-scan DVD player or DTV set-top box.

The onboard 181-channel tuner offers PLL frequency-synthesized tuning, picture controls (contrast, brightness, color, tint), and you can access its handy onscreen menu from the TV's front panel or from the supplied full-function remote control. Auto sleep timer/power off saves energy after a preset period of inactivity, while resume power-on will recall the set's power state following a brief power outage. The 6615LE is Energy Star-compliant.

Pros:

Extremely lightweight (even lighter than most 14").

No Power Brick! Attached cord plugs directly into wall.

Can accept a 'standard' 100mm wall mount.

At $299, an absolute great buy.

Not bad sound at all.

Cons:

Extremely bulky and clunky Remote.

So-so black levels (not great contrast/brightness levels)

Poor viewing angle (especially vertically)

Okay, so I don't know much about LCD TVs. I first saw this one on display at Best Buy. It was in an array of 20 or so TVs. For some reason, this little guy stood out as having a great picture. Even so, the viewing angle was not very good - when all of the TVs were viewed from an angle (to the right or left), most of the screens turned milky - including this one. Keep in mind that many of the $1500 TVs also milked out as well. This one suffers from vertical angles as well. If you look dead on, it looks great. Crouch down and look at, and the screen has faded halfway to black. By contrast, the LCD monitor I am looking into right now is outstanding from all angles. Expect to spend 20 minutes or so adjusting the picture. There are no presets (i.e. movie, sports, etc.). Finally, there are three backlight settings.

Best Buy had it listed at $399 (plus tax). Amazon has it for $299. The next lowest 15" is currently well over $400. In my opinion, that makes this a good deal for now.

The thing that really stands out about this TV is the light weight and the lack of a power transformer. I'm telling you, this thing is light enough to hang from a nail in drywall (not that I recommend it). It was BY FAR the lightest TV on the Best Buy display rack; every other TV (even the 14-inchers) weighed at least twice as much.

For around $300 this is a good deal, and probaly the bset small cheap LCD TV you will find. This little TV is now in my kitchen, and the picture quality is pretty good considering it is hooked to my cable and not my satellite, the latter of which has a superior signal. The viewing angle is OK and the darks are a little to light. Now the biggest problems are (1)the remote, it is huge, considering this TV has no major extra features and the remote has only the most basic features why is it so big? I mean it is larger than my Kenwood audio receiver remote and it has proabably 50 buttons, I am going to replace it with a small basic universal remote. (2) The other major "bad" with this set is the stand, it is like a picture frame stand so the TV always will have to lean back somewhat, it can't stand up straight like do most LCD TVS and LCD monitors. All in all a good buy though not without it's faults.

It arrived from Amazon quite quickly. I plugged in the cable coax connection, plugged in the power and instant TV. Quite nice picture and wide viewing angle for an LCD screen. Very light, which is just what we wanted. When we're in the kitchen area we can turn it to face us. When we sit down to eat we just turn it around 180 degrees.

I didn't check any other competing TVs. This one sold me on its price, light weight and good reviews at Amazon. It exceeded my expectations.

I purchased one of these TVs about 3 months ago as a replacement for a 13-inch. I looked at several other makes and models, but this one was definitely the best deal for the money. The TV has relatively good picture and descent sound quality. The remote is comically oversized, which does make it harder to lose. The TV does need to be faced towards where your sitting or the picture can be difficult to view, especially with bright lights on in the room. Overall, I have been completely satisfied with it.

After reading the generally favorable reviews on this TV I ordered one and it arrived a few days ago. I am very pleased. Basically just plugged it in and turned it on. The picture is excellent. I bought a Magnavox 15" LCD TV last year for around $500 and was pretty disappointed. The picture quality is not very good but it was too much trouble to send it back. Plus having a flat screen TV was still better than the huge picture tube thing I had before. But this TV is awesome! The picture is bright and clear (and the rather large remote that people complained about is not THAT huge). I am VERY tempted to order a second one right away. I strongly recommend this TV.

I purchased this at Best Buy as a second tv to put in the bedroom . I was skeptical about the price and quality, but its been almost a year and I love it. Our major tv went on the blitz and we've been using this as our main set. It has held up to a couple of "falls" and still works. Quality is great, works right out of the box, sound is fine, it has easy access to inputs and it is extremely light! It even has its own remote. The only con is that the stand limits the viewing angle, so we fixed that by moving the screen to the postion we wanted and securing it (it is so light we used a twisty to tie it through the of the cable box).

I'm so happy with this, I'm looking for another 17 inch or bigger.
