Amazon comes through again,

When I bought my BMW, I had to opt for the HID lights because they are just awesome. First thing I asked the dealer was how much they would cost to replace when the bulbs went out. The dealer said "They don't break," which in BMW-language means you will cry when they do.
Fast forward to five years later, my car starts to show the "Pink eye" which is what HIDs show before the bulb goes out. I call BMW and they want two-hundred and fifty smackers for the replacement bulb. Wow. No thanks. I jump onto Amazon and search for "Sylvania D2S HID" which is pretty much what was written on the HID bulb I pulled out from my car. Low and behold, one-fifth the price! When it came in the next day I popped it in and bam, it works just fine. Looks EXACTLY the same too, same color temperature (4100-4300K I am guessing). Not the street racer blue, street-illegal stuff you generally see on the internet. I win, BMW loses, and Amazon rocks!

OMG ... I love Amazon even more now. If you need a replacement D2S HID Xenon bulb, get it here! At first I was a little apprehensive whether this was the right bulb.
One of my headlights went dark, but it was pinkish before that. So I wasn't sure if the problem was even a result of the bulb versus the ballasts or the ignitor ... But after doing a little internet research regarding the "pink eye" syndrome (Google it) ... its where your headlights turn pinkish / purplish before they totally burn out, and taking a leap of faith ... I decided to change out the bulb on my own. I'm sure the dealer would have charged me an arm and a leg. I did call a local BMW dealer who wanted approx. $250 for just ONE bulb. My jaw almost dropped. So here comes good ol' Amazon who has the same identical bulb listed for a little over $50. I questioned how the same exact bulb could be dramatically less than what the dealer was charging. From previous experience I know the dealer does gouge you, but this is beyond highway robbery ... so the thought that maybe the bulb was different did enter my mind, but a previous reviewer wrote that it was OEM. Sure enough, the bulb turned out to be the exact same Osram (operates as Sylvania in U.S.) Xenarc "made in Germany" inscribed xenon bulb #66040 that my original BMW had. After I hooked everything up, I was back in business ... so as it turns out, it was a burnt bulb after all. The job took about 15 minutes ... if you're unfamiliar with how to swap the bulb out, check out some of the videos on YouTube regarding how to change out HID bulbs, its a little bit more work than the normal bulbs. From what I understand, this 66040 bulb works with other car manufacturer with HID lights ... if not, check out the Phillips 85122 bulb.

The bulb to buy - do NOT get from the stealership!,

This bulb is the OEM replacement bulb for my 2006 Acura RL. The stealership wanted $300 to replace one driver side HID lamp. To be fair, in order to change this bulb, you do have to remove the bumper from the car. I thought that would be a daunting task but it turned out to be relatively easy.
I purchased 2 bulbs (one for right and left) for about $80 total. Installed in about 2 hours and works great. Save yourself some money and replace your own HID's with these. The dealership is counting on you being lazy :>)

These are the real deal, my 2008 Audi A6 had a flaky light that didn't always turn on. Dealer said they'd replace it for $250 PLUS labor. This was a fraction of the price, and took 5 minutes to install. Color match was dead-on, didn't have to change the other side. Osram, Made in Germany... Good stuff! Audi uses bulbs from either GE or Osram (mine had GE, but this color matched perfectly). So these are the SAME EXACT bulbs that the dealers sell. Price is near what a no-name made in china blub goes for. Thanks Amazon!

Best and Brightest HIDs,
By

Simply put - these HIDs are amazing. Don't waste your money on other bulbs as they are cheap, don't fit properly and will improperly draw electrical current from your system, putting it at risk. These bulbs are VERY bright and I wouldn't use them unless you have the proper projectors for them; they will light up an entire dark stretch of highway in front of you that is almost scary to see.
I have always heard how great these bulbs were but I always refused to buy them because of the price tag. I've wasted (now hundreds of dollars) in crappy, imitation "made in Germany" HIDs that always gave me problems and blew out early. I'm happy that I've now purchased these as I won't have to worry about my HID bulbs falling out of my projectors as I go over bumps. I used these in my 2000 323CI and they were a perfect fit. I do have to stress again that these bulbs are VERY bright even though they are only 35 watt. I would never use them without proper projectors because you will definitely blind a lot of people. Even with my projectors aimed way down as I drive behind friends and family they always comment on how bright the bulbs really are.

Pretty good replacement for HID on Acura TSX 2006,

I found this on amazon for 1/5th the price of what dealership was charging and 1/3 the price of the after-market component. Even after paying the local car shop for putting it in, I saved a lot of money. The light has a yellow tinge initially and my headlights were of different color for first few weeks. I was worried initially about that but then read somewhere that the color changes to whitish in 2-3 months. Its slowly getting there and is already very similar to my old bulb on the other side.
I am very happy that I went with this bulb.

Bulbs burning out after only 8 months!,

I purchased a set of these in December 2009 to replace my ~7 year old HID's. They have been great until a few days ago, when one of them started turning pink (the telltale sign that the bulb is about to go out). The description claims they last 3 times longer than halogen bulbs. I don't know whether I got a defective bulb or what, but 8 months cannot be the mean time between failures for these. I cannot find warranty information anywhere, so I will contact Sylvania & Amazon for a fix, but as a cynical consumer, I am not optimistic. At any rate, not happy with this purchase.
update 8/9 - Sylvania replied to my note and are shipping a replacement bulb. Great customer service so far.

WARNING: These lights shine YELLOW,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sylvania 66240 D2S HID - High Intensity Discharge Lamp, Pack of 1 (Automotive)
I drive a 2001 Audi A6. I just put one of these light bulbs into my car and the light is as Yellow as any normal car. My other headlamp shines a perfect very bright White. After removing my old stock light bulb (which also shined perfect white) I see that it is a Philips D2S 35W Xenon HID. Luckily, Amazon also has my stock bulbs for only $1 more (search: Philips D2S) I am HIGHLY upset with the difference between the online description of these Sylvania bulbs and what they actually are. The color description of these bulbs is false. However, I will say that these bulbs do shine brightly and seem to be HID quality. If you want WHITE light (And I don't mean that cheap blue-tinted wanna-be Xenon light) DO NOT BUY THESE. Buy Philips D2S or check your current bulbs, first, to determine the make.

Great Intensity, different color tha OEM,
This review is from: Sylvania 66240 D2S HID - High Intensity Discharge Lamp, Pack of 1 (Automotive)
The item intensity was same as OEM but the color was warmer than the Acura TSX OEM so I had to order another for the color to match.
