We got this for our kids for Christmas and they are very happy with it. The picture quality is very good in my opinion. The VCR produces good quality images and the DVD produces excellent image quality. The DVD player is on the slow side and will not play all of the movies we own - not sure what's up there. The sound quality is reasonably good for a unit of this size. The first one we bought had a crack that went from the bottom of the TV tube down to the VCR door. It was replaced under warranty with no problem but it took 2 months to get the replacement. According to the sales person, this problem was experienced by others, so beware. I don't know if it has been addressed, with changes made in the molding of the case or not.
