The Silverstar bulbs, whether this type or the standard ones are a good upgrade for any vehicle. I have them in 3 vehicles now, and they have lasted years in my VW Jetta and are still as bright as the day I put them in. Some reviews state short life span, so here's the best tip I gave give anyone working with headlight bulbs.
The second you are working with your Silverstars, put on latex gloves and don't take them off until you have the job done. Oil from your skin will create hot spots on the bulbs and they will burn out quickly. If you don't touch them, this won't happen and they should last for quite a few years. At this price, I would recommend these bulbs to everyone that would like to see better at night.

I paid $49.99 for these at Schuck's, which is more than on Amazon, but I didn't want to wait for shipping. As soon as you turn them on you can tell a difference from regular halogen bulbs. The road will come alive because the light is much whiter and brighter, and it does give you a better view of the road, markers, and signs. The visibility is about the same though, and you can only see a little farther up the road from standard bulbs. If you buy these Online, it's a good value and I recommend them, but as far as buying them for retail, stick with a good quality set of new bulbs for $15. If your bulbs are older than 5 years, replace them with new ones and you will see a big difference without spending $50. I eventually swapped these out for HID lamps, which are in a league of their own.

Overall, a great product that's a good investment if you're safety conscious and don't mind spending a lot more for headlamp bulbs.

A note: Sylvania-Osram says the "color temperature" of these approaches 4000k (or degrees Kelvin), which is in the range of High Intensity Discharge lamp systems. While they are brighter and whiter, these are still halogen and no where near the brightness or color of HID's, which generate light via an electric arc.

They seem to be brighter than the bulbs I replaced. Because the price was better here on Amazon, I purchased them. I would NOT buy them form local retailers as they wanted over $50 for these. If the price stays reasonable here at Amazon, I would continue to buy from here. Others have said they blow out premature, I have not experienced this. They are still working fine. If they do go out quickly I will come back here and modify this report. As of this time these lights seem slightly above average and that is the reason for the 3 stars (not less not more).

I tried a cheaper bulb (Xenon) for my 2001 Chevy Venture which was supposed to provide great results, but was very disappointed. Ended up purchasing this bulb and was amazed at the difference compared to the OEM and the Xenon bulb. I can definitely see much better - much further than both previous, much whiter than the OEM (Xenon was white, but still couldn't see very well with it), and a much broader viewing area. I did find someone selling at a much lower price on ebay so went that route, though I always check Amazon first.

I just installed the bulb so can't say much for the life of the bulb, but I did go by other people's advice in did not touch the actual bulb. I didn't wear gloves like was suggested, just held the bulb by the base and made sure not to touch the glass.

Definitely don't buy at the auto supply stores - they're twice as much as you can find online. But if you get a decent price, this bulb is definitely worth it, and now I can finally see the road when I'm driving at night!

Having always been disatisfied with the illumination of the headlights on my truck, I found the Silverstar Ultra blulbs to be a definite improvement. Are they as bright as Sylvania claims? I don't think so, and I have to say I would have been very disappointed if I paid $49.95 (which is the price I found at the local auto parts stores), but that said, I definitely think they are worth the price I got them for here.

I have been using the Silverstars in my vehicles for a while now. I love the whiteness of the light. I have no proof that they actually put out more lumens, but they sure do look brighter. The standard halogens have a yellow look compared to these. I took away one star because they are not perfect. My main complaint is that they do not last very long. The other complaint that I noticed (it took years to notice) was during a heavy snow storm, I couldn't see!! I realized that the light was so white and bright, that the snow reflected the light back at me and blinded me!! I shut the lights off when there were no cars around me, and I was able to see better with just street lights and moon light. In all fairness though, I did not have other headlights to do an A/B comparison with so they may have been just as bad, but I don't think that would have been the case. Overall, I highly recommend these lights for better visibility.

'91 Volvo with slightly yellowed lenses. I compared one of these to an old conventional $8 bulb that I had in the garage by having one of each in the same car. The difference is barely perceptible. The claims they make for these bulbs are rather exaggerated. Is this worth 2-3 times as much as a conventional bulb? Only if a very slight improvement is worth the money to you. I am satisfied with these. I would be disappointed if I had spent twice this much for the more expensive brand and they were only a tiny bit better. These Silverstar ultras replaced an old set of original Silverstars that lasted about 5 years, which is not as long as conventional bulbs, but acceptable.

After 3 weeks of use, I'll say that these bulbs work as advertised. They're whiter and brighter than the ones they replaced. But, not tremendously so. My reaction the first night after installation was not "wow", but more like "hmm,,,okay...they're whiter". Though noticeably whiter, I'm not so sure the brighter is as noticeable to the naked eye, at least to mine. It'll probably take a side by side comparison to really see the difference which I haven't done yet. Anyway, whiter is good too. Bottom line is they're an improvement over my previous bulbs, they were delivered promptly and in sealed new packaging, and cost less than half of the price they're selling for in my nearby auto parts store.

Sylvania 9004SU replacement lamps do the job well of extending your driving view and distance. Great buy for the money.

Easy to install and much brighter than the "standard" bulbs. I hope they last longer than some other reviews have stated. I was very cautious in my installation so as not to touch the bulb.
