Combining the features and benefits of the two technologies, this DVD/VCR combo offers a high-end DVD video output, MP3 and WMA music playback from homemade CD-Rs DVD-R/RW playback, and compatibility with VHS tapes. It's everything you need in a compact unit. CONSUMER ALERT: This television receiver has only an analog broadcast tuner and will require a converter box after February 17, 2009 to receive over-the-air broadcasts with an antenna because of the U.S.'s transition to digital broadcasting. Analog-only TVs should continue to work as before with cable and satellite TV services, gaming consoles, VCRs, DVD players, and similar products. Works as promised. Both the DVD and VCR players are easy to use and have sharp pictures. VCR programming for timed TV shows very cumbersome but usable.

I wanted to buy a small VHS/DVD unit for my bedroom and I had both limited space and limited money. This is hooked onto an old style (non-HD TV) and it works perfectly. I watch a lot of tapes as they're generally very inexpensive through amazon. I would recommend to anyone wanting a good back-up machine to buy one of these.
