Sylvania's DVL150G progressive-scan DVD player offers high performance in an affordable package. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, resulting in higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating motion blurs.

Other features include Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel digital output for hookup with a compatible audio/video receiver and speaker system, simulated surround sound through any two speakers, 2x and 4x zoom, search speeds up to 100x, 10-point bookmarking, and parental lock. Video outputs include component-video, S-video, and composite-video terminals. Auto power off conserves energy and extends product life.

$19.77 for a DVD player? You've got to be kidding. I took the gamble and am very glad I did. Incredibly easy to hook up - just match the colors on the cables to the ports on the TV! Sylvania even supplied the batteries for the remote control!!!!

Okay - here's why 4 stars and not 5. The instruction manual is complicated and virtually useless. A vital piece of info is missing - you have to turn your TV to the proper channel for viewing a DVD. The problem is that they don't tell you which one! So, a call to the ever-open 800-customer service line at Sylvania solved the problem.

Bottom line, if you want a simple DVD player with progressive scan to watch a movie, this is your best bet.

If you do not have HD, get this one for the time being. It is very good if it size does not bother you.

Well the product is not bad. I needed a dvd player for my dorm room, since I already have a tv of the same make I decided to get the make's dvd player. Easy to install did not need to read the instructions (I never do when setting up electronics) but when I glanced through, they were straight forward. Godd buy for its price and the images are very sharp plus, it is very light weight.
All in all a great product.
