Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the DVL700D stands ready to deliver the full potential of DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, providing higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. Composite- and S-video outputs ensure compatibility with nearly any television.
A set of left/right analog-audio outputs channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio output for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver. Playback options include zoom, slow motion, 100x normal search speed, and a fluorescent display with dimming capability for lights-out home theater viewing. Supplied accessories include a composite-video/stereo analog-audio interconnect, instruction manual, and a remote control.

I have this hooked up to my 32"Pure Flat Sony and it gives great picture and color. Crisp detail, looks similiar to a Phillips DVD I saw at another store. ...P>I love it and it fits into my component rack easily, slim, sharp design.

Deficient & quirky...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sylvania DVL700D Progressive-Scan DVD Player (Electronics)
This must be the only unit on the market that doesn't play VCDs! :( Also, if you want to play a CD or MP3 starting at track 6, you have to actually start playing the disk first; only then can you push the >>> button to get to track 6. Kinda odd. Note that Sylvania is made by Funai, which may explain its quirkiness.
