NOT as advertised,
By Spock "Spock" (Wolcott, CT United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sylvania LD195SL8 19-Inch LCD SDTV with Built-in DVD Player (Electronics)
I bought one of these tvs (Sylvania LD195SL8) through Amazon (actual seller was TigerDirect.) It is advertised everywhere as an HDTV. It is NOT. The box clearly states in several places on the box that this is a SDTV. TigerDirect gave me a return authorization without any problem, but don't buy this product unless you want a SDTV.

This review is from: Sylvania LD195SL8 19-Inch LCD SDTV with Built-in DVD Player (Electronics)
I bought this TV for my wife's sewing room & for the money, it is perfect. It has a really nice picture & we love the built-in DVD player.
It is extremely light weight & the sound quality is good. Amazon delivered it ahead of schedule by several days.

OK TV - Awful Speakers,
This review is from: Sylvania LD195SL8 19-Inch LCD SDTV with Built-in DVD Player (Electronics)
This TV has a lot of nice features and it is easy to set up. The fine print in the manual tells you (it's very fine print) that you don't really have HDTV, only SD, and the picture I got confirmed that in my experience. My cable TV input produced a picture of about the same quality as my RCA 1984 tube TV, so I was not especially impressed. Still, the TV is good looking and is light and easy to use, so OK, ... just OK, I'd have kept it if not for the Awful Tinny Shallow Un-adjustable speakers. If you've shopped around, you know other manufacturers include quality speakers and even with adjustments in tone. Some of the Samsung ones separate adjustments by frequency - good feature. None of that here. There's an Audio button on the control unit that basically does nothing but bias the tone by type of reception (I couldn't tell any difference anyway) and there were no other adjustment of any kind. Despite any user adjustment, the sound from this TV was like what you'd get over an old CB radio. With other features at least OK, I thought I might have a malfunction and I tried a second set. Nope - same as #1 - the picture was again just OK and the speakers were again Awful. Siskel & Eibert - Two Thumbs Down.
