I was hoping this timer would be quiet and It Is Quiet! The more common timers make noise that is distracting if you are sitting nearby. The Sylvania timer looks nice and is totally silent.

I bought this timer after reading another review about it being quiet. And it was for about four days. I actually really prefer the design of this timer over others I've had so I was really happy when I didn't hear it for a few nights.
But then out of nowhere it began ticking 24/7 and there was nothing I could do about it. Nothing had changed. There was nothing touching it and yet it continues to click with each second. Therefore, I am giving this timer a poor rating and will have to find somewhere outside of my bedroom to use it.

I have five of this timers since 2006, they still work like a charm. I live in Mexico and power is so expensive here, I use them to turn on and off our floor fans so I can program the air conditioning units to turn off after a few hours to save energy. I've used them to turn table lamps on and off when we are not home and avoid burglaries. Today I'm using one to turn on and off our Christmas lights. They have an override switch if you want the appliance to be on all the time.
