5.0 out of 5 stars Release guilt and fear
This is the second book that I have read that stressed the release of guilt and fear. The first Book was An Encounter With A Prophet. While Brown comes from a Christian viewpoint, Lewis comes from an anti-dogma, spiritual viewpoint. Lewis maintains it is difficult to release guilt and fear while continuing to believe Christian dogma. Brown ignores the dogma and presents...

1.0 out of 5 stars Redundant, Redundant, Redundant!
I have read several Sylvia Browne books when I really only needed to read one. They all practically say the same thing. The tittles are ALWAYS misleading and always, always, ALWAYS lack anything new. I no longer read her books and am no longer a fan. I have moved on to more credible authors and have learned FAR more in doing so. Sylvia Browne's books are a waste of...

5.0 out of 5 stars Release guilt and fear, November 1, 2004
This review is from: Sylvia Browne's Lessons for Life (Hardcover)
This is the second book that I have read that stressed the release of guilt and fear. The first Book was An Encounter With A Prophet. While Brown comes from a Christian viewpoint, Lewis comes from an anti-dogma, spiritual viewpoint. Lewis maintains it is difficult to release guilt and fear while continuing to believe Christian dogma. Brown ignores the dogma and presents some of the same concepts.

Regardless of their different approaches it seems that they agree on the need to release both guilt and fear.

Try both books one should work for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Operation Introspection, October 27, 2004

This review is from: Sylvia Browne's Lessons for Life (Hardcover)
I agree...NO ONE steals from self-help books. Afterall, they are written with the intention of helping anyone who wishes.

I have read a number of Sylvia's books and though I can't say I've enjoyed EVERY one of them, this one resonnates with me. It's a little book written in Sylvia's, matter-of-fact style. She writes as if she were speaking to you and I like this. It is so straight forward...impossible to misunderstand or misinterpret where she is going.

Each chapter has written exercises to go along with it. It is my belief that if you DO follow what she tells you to do with these exercises...you WILL find out a lot about who you are and reinforce to yourself who you are NOT. so many of us have had labels lumped upon us through the years...we've accepted things because they may have come from our parents or other loved ones but in reality...we all know in our hearts what our true essences are. This book will help uncover them.

I tend to read a whole book before I go back and take it chapter by chapter but I would suggest to others, to follow her instructions to the letter. She hasn't gotten to where she is today by "stealing" from other people's ideas. Yes, a lot of what she does say is common sense...but I don't see a LOT of authors offering it.

I rate this book high on my list and will recommend it to the members of my site. It's inexpensive and if you are like me and need something to do at night OTHER than watch TV...try it. You'll make astonishing discoveries. I promise!

5.0 out of 5 stars Winning at Life., February 3, 2005
This review is from: Sylvia Browne's Lessons for Life (Hardcover)
Building on the backdrop of her own life and that of a spiritualist psychic medium Browne teaches readers the importance of connecting with their higher self /god through various techniques and meditative practices. Although she references our connection with god, she does so in a non dogmatic fashion. Brownes understanding of this world and the challenges that she has personally faced and conquered, serve as reminder to the reader that we can all overcome life's difficulties by developing our spirituality and strengthening our connection with god. Her techniques and recommendations are designed to lead the reader to a higher understanding of their spiritual self in relation to this world and beyond. A well written and easy to understand book. Psychic Medium Karyn Reece

Peaceful Soul (New Jersey, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sylvia Browne's Lessons for Life (Hardcover)
I think this book is a fine example of Sylvia's work. She clearly is trying to help people and not hurt them. This gives someone a good place to start. Sometimes the best teachers are those who can relate and have gone through things themselves. Otherwise, it's like someone saying I know how you feel when they really don't because they never experienced it. But if they went through the same thing, they can give advice from an experienced eye. I'd rather that than someone just telling me what to do because they learned it in some book or classroom. The title is "Lessons for Life" and Sylvia draws from her own lessons from life. Sylvia has said she is not psychic about herself. After all, she's here to learn too and I'm sure she's included in partaking in those lessons. Who is 100% accurate except God? She is human and only one person. She only receives information she is supposed to receive. If she doesn't receive it, she's not suppose to know about it. And sometimes like electronics, I'm sure there is static. We could go on and on about the predictions from all over the world she didn't make since she's been living. But why not focus on the ones she did and the people she has helped? Also, just because something is not seen or proven doesn't necessarily mean it's not there. Radio waves and things of that nature are not seen, but are there. And there are many, many accounts of people who have unexplained experiences. In my opinion this book is helpful and no matter where the information came from, if it helps at least some people it was worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars MY GIRLFRIEND MADE ME READ IT!, October 27, 2004
This review is from: Sylvia Browne's Lessons for Life (Hardcover)
AND YOU KNOW WHAT? I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M SAYING THIS BUT I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. WHOEVER SYLVIA BROWN SHE IS AMAZING. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST INTERESTING BOOKS I'VE READ IN YEARS. SHE DOESN'T MAKE ANY APOLOGIES FOR HER STRAIGHT FORWARDNESS NOR HER BELIEFS. I QUESTIONED A FEW BUT AFTER FINISHING THE BOOK I'M ANXIOUS TO PICK UP ANOTHER BOOK WRITTEN BY HER.

SHE'S SUPPOSEDLY KNOWN AS A PSYCHIC...AND THAT WHOLE PSYCHIC HOOPLA HAS ALWAYS TURNED ME AWAY.. BUT THERE IS JUST SOMETHING ABOUT HER WRITING THAT RESONATES WITH YOUR SOUL ALMOST AS IF YOUR SOUL RECOGNIZES PURE TRUTH WHEN IT REACHES IT.

I SAY PICK IT UP AND GIVE IT A READ, TRUST ME YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY.

Sylvia Browne's books are a waste of your money in my opinion.

Take my advice, always beware of someone charging 850 dollars for a generic 20 min reading over the phone. They are never doing it for your best interest, only their own. Any credible medium will always charge a very fair price(like $20 or so).

5.0 out of 5 stars relaxing, March 26, 2007
This review is from: Sylvia Browne's Lessons for Life (Hardcover)
I found this book to be just what I needed it to be. Feeling trapped and depressed it bought me back to life and made me realize I am the one in control of my happiness and in how others treat me and in who I allow in my life. Once again I have to hand it to Sylvia, just the fact that positive things are happening to me now, proves to me whatever powers she possesses, she has the power to make me feel good about myself.!!! Isn't that the most important thing in life? Highly recommended reading

5.0 out of 5 stars THE OTHER SIDE AND BACK, August 14, 2005
This review is from: Sylvia Browne's Lessons for Life (Hardcover)
SYLVIA BROWNE HAS CHANGED MY LIFE. WHAT I HAVE READ IN HER BOOKS HAS MADE MORE SENSE TO ME THAN ANYTHING I HAVE EVER HEARD. SHE IS GIFTED WITH THE ABILITY TO HEAR HER SPIRIT GUIDE AND LET THE REST OF US HAVE A GLIMPSE INTO WHAT IS REALLY IMPORTANT. HER BOOKS WERE DEFINATELY NOT A WASTE OF TIME OR MONEY.

5.0 out of 5 stars A little more spritual is needed in this world., November 18, 2004
By
This review is from: Sylvia Browne's Lessons for Life (Hardcover)
I have not read the book yet but I have ordered it. I am
a librarian for a large public library system. I do trust
Sylvia Browne and I take exception to the comments about her
emphasis on too much spirituality and that she is out to make a buck. I believe our country has strayed way too far away from a belief in God and spiritual matters and that is why there is so much greed, hatred and violence in this country.

I would rather read her books than watch the crap that's on tv
nowadays.

And who's to say there is no other side? Those questioning
what she describes haven't arrived there yet so how do they know she isn't correct. Until we go wherever we go we have no business being cynical.

I have had too many experiences myself and so have some of my freinds to doubt Sylvia. There are charlatans out there but I don't believe she is one of them. And I don't think Montel
would have a charlatan on his show.

I am a Roman Catholic and my cousin who is a priest still sticks
with the belief that animals aren't on the other side either
because they don't have souls. I tease him all the time and tell
him he doesn't know for sure he hasn't gotten there yet either.

And I don't recall the Bible stating anywhere that animals aren't in heaven.

I think animals deserve to be there more than a great number of people do.
