Product Description

Product Description

The Syma S102G Mini Black Hawk Gyro Helicopter, new from Syma in 2011, is ready-to-fly! It looks like the real US Army Black Hawk and comes with a stabilizing gyro for easy flight. You can fly the helicopter up, down, forward, backward, and turn it left or right. It fits in the palm of your hand, so it is great for indoor flights. An infrared transmitter is included. The transmitter needs AA batteries (not included). The LiPo battery for the helicopter itself can be recharged either through the transmitter or a USB port.

From the Manufacturer

Walkera Original Factory Replacement Part: Video Transmitter Module TX5803 for the Walkera V450D03 Radio Controlled (RC) Model Helicopter.

It's extremely durable; I've crashed it so many times and it still works flawlessly!

I've owned many of the Syma mini Helis... S100, SO22, SO26, S108G and Syma's best flying heli prior to this, the S107. In all, I've got around 13 of these things. Note that all of these birds closely match each other in flying qualities and you cannot go wrong with any of them, except for the S100. With this said, here are my ratings:
S102G - UH60 - The best! Flies much "heavier". For it's size, it has finer control than all the others... It's not "All or nothing" control. Flies most like my bigger gas-powered ones.
S107G (Flying Fish head) - The best up until this point, for my airgroup, anyway.
S026 (Little Chinook CH-47) - No Gyro and requires a little more attention but still fun to fly. Everyone should have a tandem rotor.
S022 (Big Chinook CH-47) - No Gyro but its bigger size makes it more stable.
S108G (Cobra) - It tends to fly with the "All or nothing" control feel that I mentioned earlier. It has a nice scale outline and, if you dig scale birds, you should have it.
S100 - Cute, smallest of them all and not really of the same size class. Has no gyro and will work you! Nice lights in the air though. Seems to settle down and become easier to fly after 2 minutes... when the battery dies down some. Flies for ~7min.

The Syma S102g is a 5 star mini helicopter. This helicopter is slow enough for any beginner learning how to fly. This is a 3.5 channel, not a 3 channel. The difference is a 3.5 channel gyro will correct itself and will yaw in flight. A more realistic flight operation. The detail of 102g is realistic and the forward red and blue flashing lights look great. I love lights. The more the better, I say. Anyway, if this is your first or next mini helicopter, you can't go wrong. The 102g is very durable and the battery life is around 10 minutes with a full charge. Very fun to fly and the learning curve will take no time at all. Highly recommended. Flies as good. if not better than the Syma S107.

I own all the Syma Mini Military helicopters. Here is my review for all 5.

1. S108G Cobra. By Far the fastest and the most aggressive of the helicopters. This one takes a little bit of time to get used to and is for the more experienced flyer. Its super fast and super durable.

2. S109G Apache. Another good helicopter from Syma. Runs the same as the Cobra. Fast and swift.

3. S026G Chinook. A good beginner helicopter. Very stable in flight. It can be fast if you want it to be or it can be slow. This is one of my favorites out of the series.

4. S102G Black Hawk. My brother has the S107G and this flies just like it. This is probably the best helicopter that syma makes. Extremely stable and can take a serious beating. (But so can all the others.) It will fly at the speed you want it to from slow to fast and takeoffs and landings are extremely smooth.

5. S111G Coast Guard Rescue. This too is a fine product from syma. Super smooth flyer and very stable when hovering. And yes, this one wins in the looks battle. It works just like the S102G Black Hawk.

6. And last but not least, the S023G Big Apache. This is a massive outdoor version of the S109G Apache. But this one is meant to be used outdoors. This one is not infrared like the little ones but is a 27mhz radio control helicopter. This guy has some serious power to it and boy does it fly. Very fast and extremely stable are how I would describe it. It is also very easy to control.

All in all, Syma gets a 20 out of 10 stars on their helicopters for the price. And when you do buy one from them, MAKE SURE IT HAS A G AFTER THE NUMBERS. LIKE S109-G-. The G stands for Gyro. The Gyro makes it twice as easy to fly.

I have all of the helicopters from this series and love them all. For the most part, they all fly very well and this one is no exception. Very easy to fly indoors and small enough too, just make sure your A/C isn't blowing. It doesn't take much of a breeze to make these hard to control. No wind = great flight. Make sure that with all of these you get the gyro version. They almost fly themselves.

I rated this chopper a 4 because it is very enjoyable to fly. I also have the s107g which I also enjoy. The black hawk s102g is far more fun to fly. It is more responsive, quicker, and has a more realistic appearance (the 102 looks like a toy model. The 107 looks like... well... a remote control helicopter). I have found the black hawk is easier to control than the s107g but is not as stable in the air. The 107 is heavier and less prone to air currents which seem to toss the black hawk around. The 107 can hover in place easily. The black hawk moves about rather than hovering in the same spot. Both can easily maintain a stable altitude, the black hawk being able to maneuver a few inches off the ground (although going in reverse tosses it around a bit).
I did not rate the 102 black hawk a 5 for a couple of reasons. The plastic in the tail is very thin and "appears" easily breakable (that being said mine has not broken). Most importantly this is my second 102 black hawk. The first burned out a motor in fewer than 10 flights. I returned the Heli through Amazon with no issues. I enjoyed flying the black hawk so much I immediately ordered another one. I have flown the new one three times now and it is still working. From the reviews I've read about many of the SYMA products the quality is hit and miss. If you get a good one they are awful fun! If not they are awful frustrating. At this point I would recommend the black hawk and prefer flying it over the s107g, however, the 107 is more stable, durable, and has better access for repair if you don't want to throw it away when it stops working (A motor burned out on the 107 after a few months, I replaced the part and the chopper works great again).
