5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Norton: easy to use and effective.
SystemWorks for Macintosh combines Norton Utilities with Norton Anti-Virus, Aladin Clean Sweep, and Datz Retrospect. The Norton suite installs effortlessly (easier then NAV for PC in my experience), you install Clean Sweep and Retrospect seperately off the same disk. 2.0 out of 5 stars Norton who???
Version 1.0 is average at best and this is also only able to run in OS 9 or lower. It does not run natively in OS X, but they have come out with a 2.0 version. The 1.0 version does have good optimization and defragmenting properties, but the 2.0 version has included Alsoft's Disk Warrior. Makes one wonder why Symantec would share the spotlight with another software...

SystemWorks has the familiar Symantec features: control panels (the Norton products can all be accessed through a main panel), and live update. A new to me feature is that when (for example) you run "software update" NAV will detect it and ask you if you want to suspend auto-protect while you're installing software. I happen to like Norton products and have had good luck with them, this product for Mac is no exception. I think Norton SystemWorks is a must have for any Mac home user.

5.0 out of 5 stars How did I cope without Systemworks!!!, December 27, 2001

I bought Norton Systemworks after suspecting I had downloaded a virus on my Mac. I had never used the product (or any other like it) before, so I was pleased that it was user friendly and extremely efficient. I ran both Antivirus and Utilities (both included in the price) to check my system for bugs and general "bad things" and within 2 hours, my Mac was back to its old self.

I am impressed by the wealth and versatility of all the other programms that are included on the CD-ROM (like Aladdin Spring Clean and Dantz Retrospect). Similar to the flagship programmes, they are easy to use, easy to install and set-up, and most importantly they work well.

I would reccommend Norton Systemworks Macintosh for anybody who is having problems with their Mac, or for people who want that extra peice of mind. My only problem is that I wish I had bought it sooner, then my Mac might not have kept crashing orignally.

Fully deserves the 5 star award.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's not like we had much choice !, October 20, 2003

Whether it's a pc or a mac, symantec always has a decent software package.

In the mac world, there isn't many utility packages to choose from.

BEWARE: I believe it was OS 8.6 and/or OS9 that would NOT work with systemworks 1.0. Could cause drive corruption.
(You needed systemworks 2.0)
I bought this package and gave it to the end user.
I warned him about only using it as directed on the package.
Well, naturally he used it with the wrong Mac OS and lost some data.
BUT THAT WAS NOT THE SOFTWARE'S FAULT !

A good, all around utility package.

Thumbs up !
