Mommy, Please Make it Stop,
This review is from: Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 [Old Version] (CD-ROM)
As I write this angry users with torches and pitchforks are banging on my door. This product is an absolute disgrace. Installs poorly and shutsdown anything you can think of with no override possible. Uninstalls like gar-bage and crashes exchange server in the process. WOW. Hard to believe this is supposed to be real software. Remote sessions requiring ms popup control in the underlying app. are blocked. When I called MS support the VERY FIRST QUESTION THEY ASKED is are you using SEP11?
Goodbye Symantec.

This product rocks, you just need a decent server for the manager,

I like this software . . . seems like a lot of people don't, but I do. Yea, the initial page on the server takes about 5 seconds to load, but as a whole, this is the bomb. The ability to remotely administer all the machines rocks. I am a consultant, and from my laptop I can log in to all my clients domains and quickly (2 minutes or less) make a policy change for 400+ computers (like blocking utorrent, or itunes, or responding to a breach attempt). The firewall is made by Sygate, and is by far the best firewall I have ever used.
The reporting rocks, and allows me to know where there are attempts to break into the networks I manage. I tried McAfee and their client takes up TONS of resources, takes forever to install and generally makes the workstations run slow. Symantec finally got on the ball and made their software fast . . . guess McAfee is going through the same thing the Symantec did several years ago. The think I think I like the most is that you can have location awareness firewall setting, where you can have a stricter policy when the laptop leaves home base (I use a "Starbucks" firewall policy that really locks down the computer). The bad: You need a decent server for the manager. Like at least 3 GB of memory and at least one 3GHz processor. Don't try to run the management server on a SBS machine that has low-end hardware, or you will slow the server to a crawl.

Very Nice Item and Never Expire,
This review is from: Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 [Old Version] (CD-ROM)
I have been using this Symantec Endpoint Protection for years. It is a very protection for both of my desktops and laptops. Since I have started using it, my pc never suffered any major problem due to virus. I highly recommend this product. You can update it twice a week or once a week, depending on you, and it never expires. I did not suffer anything installation problem as one of the user's feedback indicated. I have installed this Endpoint Protection in 3 laptops and 2 desktops, so I can guarantee that the installation is very smooth and takes about 3 minutes and you can install this product in as many pcs as you want to.

This is a fine anti virus product. We have some old PC's without even the minimum RAM and it still loads and runs fine. No huge over head and is not a resource monger. It runs on 2000 server, home server and XP without problem. You don't even know it's there ! Thats how it's supposed to be! And for 20 bucks a PC...

Decent anti virus/spware/net protection,

I got this free from my college.
Overall its fine as far as I can tell. Been using it for about 7 months now. My laptop has windows 7 home premium 32bit, installed fine. I didnt see any performance drop like some people mentioned. I hold some problems with my desktop which was running the 64bit ver and windows 7 pro, the update program kept crashing and I had to uninstall it several times before it finally would update, now its working fine. It catches threats before they are launched just by browsing the folder they are in, it stops attack sites also and blocks them. It could have more options when it detects threats, seems to never be able to clean files, only move / delete them.

Best AntiVirus we have found,

Aloha all,
We have found this to be the best anti virus on the market. If fact we recommend this software to all of our business clients. Its very low system resource and catch's most common viruses. Also, the support from Symantec is not that bad also, they will remote into your computer and help get rid of the viruses if the computer gets one. A++ in my book

Do not buy this software,

I tried so many different anti-virus software, and all of them have some problems.
But this one I just hate completely for its behavior - it uses ~ 50% of my CPU. Why that Symantec guys think that it is OK to use my CPU 50%? I hate it, and will never go with this thing. Will use Kaspersky instead - uses < 5% in peak, works much faster and stable.

Reinstalled McAfee and my problems disappeared immediately,

Symantec Endpoint Protection is the free security program provided by my university. After my McAfee subscription on my Dell ran out, I decided to give the Symantec a whirl...
Horrible mistake. Some of my experiences: I could update Symantec and, five minutes later, it would say I needed to update again. It let in all kinds of trojans and spyware programs to the point where I was running Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials several times a day. Then, best of all, when Symantec found a trojan or virus, many times it would move the malicious file to the quarantine folder and not bother deleting it. So, I used Symantec to the point where my Dell running XP was practically inoperable. Looking back, I now realize that all of my recent computer problems started when I stopped using McAfee and installed Symantec's piece of trash. Today I paid for and reinstalled McAfee, and my computer is working beautifully again. Thanks McAfee. Five stars!

Pretty bad,

uninstalls horribly; usually crashes (so far, always has) during the uninstall or removal of features. Resource hog. Requires Liveupdate for updates; ie you cant manually download the updates (as per symantec tech support) without running liveupdate. i did manage to download the antivirus definition manually, but not the Network Threat and other threat (the one with zero day feature) updates.

NO SERVICE AGREEMENT ATTACHED,

This review is from: Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 [Old Version] (CD-ROM)
One star is too high for this product. Contacted Symantec for tech support and learned this product has no service agreement because it has no registration. This reseller should be barred from selling on Amazon. The Live Update does not work and there is no way to get help
