I purchased the 1-user, 1-PC version of this program. While many users have experienced installation problems, my installation, on a Dell Inspiron 6400, was fast and error-free. Installation problems can occur, apparently, if a prior version of Norton software has not been fully removed. Go to the Symantec website and search for Norton Removal Tool. This utility quickly removed all vestiges of NIS 2006 from my computer.

I liked NIS 2006, although it was definitely a resource hog. Plus, I had some difficulty with getting the programs ad blocking features to work with some websites that are important to me. Norton Internet Security 2009 has no ad blocking functionality, so if this feature is important to you, look to supplement NIS 2009 with a standalone ad blocking program.

After using the program for a couple of weeks, my only observations are positive. The 2009 version, ostensibly a complete re-write of the software according to other reviewers, is much less compute and i/o intensive than its predecessors. Once in a while my computer would stall and almost freeze under NIS 2006, and it turned out to be because virus definitions were getting updated. With NIS 2009, virus definitions get updated more transparently to the user. The user interface is different, albeit somewhat intuitive. Most importantly, there are fewer active processes when the software is running, and a full system scan finishes in less than half the time.

All told, I do recommend this product, especially to Norton users looking for a faster version of the Norton Internet Security or Norton AntiVirus products.

Norton Internet Security 2009 is much improved over the 2008 version. It doesn't take forever to come up when I turn on my PC like 2008 did. Likewise when it is scanning, it does not interrupt what I was doing until the scan is complete. Any fixes that need to be made are very quick. Good product....ordered another copy for a family member in another state. Would recommend.

This product has changed my mind about using Symantic products. The Internet Security Suite is much less invasive and much faster than anything I have seen from Norton/Symantic in the past. I felt that former Norton products took over my computer, took up a lot of space and used up my resources. The scans took forever to run and my computer slowed down drastically.

This product is so much better than former versions that there is no comparison. It works in the background and you almost forget that it is there until it runs into a problem. I have to change my mind about Norton and I am happy to recommend this product to people who need a good security suite for a reasonable price.

In recent years Nortons had developed a reputation for releasing obtrusive antivirus / security software; system resource hogs that embedded themselves into your system and got in the way. Finally, with the 2009 release, Norton has gotten it right. Consumers want great protection without sacrificing performance. Nortons gets the job the done effectively without getting in the way or hogging system resources. I highly recommend this version.

This Norton Internet Security software is so much better than the suite I had previously. It takes up minimal hard drive space and runs quietly in the background without slowing down your system, even during live updates. I've had Norton security software before and wasn't all that happy with it, but this version has so many improvements that I'm glad I bought it. It has all the features I need is easy to install and use. The live updates are automatic so it basically runs on its own. I haven't had any virus troubles since I've installed it. I've tried several other brands of security software, but this specific version of Norton is definitely a winner.

norton is the best. i had let my children get on my computer and before i knew it i had a virus. i tried everything possible to get the virus off and could not get it off. i clicked on norton support not only did it find and take off the harmful virus it blocked everything from that point on, which saved me a lot of money.

The service was excellent and this is a wonderful product. An affordable price which is great during these tough economic times! Will do business again.

When Kasperkey labs failed me, I turned to Norton. I switched from Norton years ago because of it's intrusive nature but the new interface is great and even shows you it's system usage which is 99% of the time a nice 0. The price is great for the protection you get. Excellent job.

It could be easier to use for the novice computer user. Firewall could be easier to use. I used Zone Alarm Pro before and was easier to add a site to the blocked list or trusted list.
The program updates AntiVirus and Spyware info more often than my other program and I like the Quick Scan feature. The login management tool is not too sofisticated, Roboform is better. Their Manage Cards portion, is again, not as good as Roboform. I would prefer if I could put logins into folders, etc. but Norton is encripted--which is good.

All in all a good basic Internet Security program. Not sure how effective the antiphishing or antispyware is (prefer if it notified me of treatening activity in "real time" not when I do a scan).

I was advised by a "geek" to get this program after a crash. Only time will tell if this was a good choice. So far no problems, I am happy!

Bought this Norton Internet Security 2009 - 1 about two weeks ago.
Since the installation was done, noticed many odd things happenings while
using the PC. Booting up was taking up to one hour; PC ignores very often when I click on a page to close it, or when I click to make a selection. Many a times, while reading a page, the same vanished and while using the e-mail. Notified Norton to have the problems fixed, but only was done for a short time; left a message to the manager regarding the same problem (about a week ago) but have not receive a response from them up to this date.
The only thing satisfactory about it, was the mail delivery. It was done as promised; within the estimated time.
