Editorial Reviews

Review

In these pages, anthropologists, artists, archaeologists, historians, literary critics, novelists, and poets will discover a veritable pantheon of hitherto neglected Celtic deities who once enjoyed astonishing artistic representation in Gaul from about 500 BCE to 400 CE. . . . The variety of subjects is awesome, as is sustained iconography of their symbols and emblems. A work of major importance that libraries on many levels should welcome.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent resource on Celtic and Celto-Roman religion, January 7, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Symbol and Image in Celtic Religious Art (Paperback)
Green manages to evoke some of the beauty and mystery of these religions while maintaining a careful focus on the historical record. As a serious student of Celto-Roman religion, I find this book one of the best I have bought, and I recommend it highly.
