Most Helpful Customer Reviews

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful By Steve Peter on March 12, 2009
The material in this work is certainly of interest to all those engaged in type, graphic, and information design. The main drawback is not the contents, but rather the form factor of the "book". Instead of being presented as a traditional book, this is more akin to a road map, with all the ease of use and fun in refolding that that entails. The publisher claims that the presentation allows one to see the networks formed by the symbols, which would be difficult in a traditionally-printed book. I beg to disagree, especially given that there are discrete areas on the map that could be made into spreads.

This is a large fold-out pamphlet with hundreds of signs and symbols, more than one could ever imagine, whose existence and explanations will fascinate you on a desert island forever - or until help arrives. I have given this as a gift to many book lovers who were absolutely delighted to acquire it. The design of the pamphlet is a work of art in itself.
