4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Art-wise, Excellent Variety-wise, Too Terse on Explanations
I already crammed so much into the title of my review that the title almost says it all. This is a beautiful book to be sure. The book also is full of a variety of content. The price is certainly great for what you get. But being very knowledgeable about most (but not all) of this book, I can say that some of the explanations are too terse for a lay audience. Still...

1.0 out of 5 stars give this a miss
A very small book, only the size of a small paperback. As a result all the illustrations reproduce badly and lack detail. information is also very general and feels like a summary.

Still there are great facts amidst the text too. I really would like a 4.5 rating, but I give the book a 4 because I think the book tends to make some readers want meatier text / explanation that it provides. But what is there is beautiful and varied in kinds of content.

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent little book series, June 30, 2011
This review is from: Symmetry: The Ordering Principle (Wooden Books) (Hardcover)
Every book in this wonderful series is a true gem of knowledge. Easy enough to tote in your daybag, it makes for a stimulating read on the bus. The Wooden Book series is great, I have a great number of them in my library, and they explain complex and ancient concepts with ease and really beautiful graphic design. the best of them incorporate old style line engraving illustrations with two color vector based designs. Good for students, artists, or the curious mind. I have myself used some of the knowledge and design principles in my own art and drawings to great effect. This series is a great resource for visual artists as well...
