5.0 out of 5 stars Handsome and Reliable Score
I am a masters student in orchestral conducting and have been collecting Dover scores over the past few years as I continue with my studies. I am especially pleased with this edition of Mendelssohn's most beloved symphonies - Symphony No. 3 ("Scottish"), Symphony No. 4 ("Italian"), and Symphony No. 5 ("Reformation"). Per usual, the scores are presented in their Breitkopf...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but...
The print quality is very good. What a pity that there is no indication of the instruments on the left margin of the score, only on the first page. Not very practical when analysing the parts...

Per usual, the scores are presented in their Breitkopf and Hartel editions, which is a very reliable source. The printing is dark, clean, and precise and the score easily stays open on the podium. Dover published this edition in 2007 and it showcases a modern and handsome cover, which I greatly appreciate and enjoy. I'm glad Dover has finally begun to update their cover art - it truly looks great. You simply cannot beat this Dover score for affordability, reliability, and quality. I highly recommend it for conductors, musicians, or those who just wish to follow along in the score. This beautiful edition comes highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I expected, May 24, 2010

This review is from: Symphonies Nos. 3, 4 and 5 in Full Score (Dover Music Scores) (Paperback)
As always, this Dover score is another proof that Dover provides the most economical way, by far, to procure full scores of music's masterworks. Some additional research may be necessary to make the edition absolutely authoritative. But, this is a great start.
