In a country of not more then 250,000 people Petri Sakari have done a grand job of presenting the music of one of Finlands finest composers. Madetoja was overshadowed by Jean Sibelius as were other Finish composers of the day. All three of his ymphonies have been recorded by the Iceland Symphony and all three are orginal masterpieces with freshness, drive beauty and originality shining through. This composer was definitely his own man and his music shows it. Of courser Chandos is incomparable in most cases so the recording quality is superb as well. This Orchestra and conductor deserve to be recorded more often They are first class and more then worthy ot be heard. They show total commitment to the talk of presenting this symphony as well as the composers first two. They are well worth investing in.
