At last a book which steps you clearly through the complex art of analyzing relationships, without treating you like a beginner or layperson. Don't be put off by dabbler's opinions - people expecting cutesy "love signs" and "compatible signs" or yet another astrological cookbook might find this book too 'technical', but experienced amateurs and professionals in astrology will find it a godsend. The level of astrology is from intermediate to advanced, and there is excellent information about counseling relationship concerns. The author obviously has a deep knowledge of astrology - he uses the most practical techniques both modern and traditional, and provides insightful critiques of the methods that don't work.

There have been so many Synastry books over the years that invent new techniques and make wild claims, but this is solid astrology with lots of up-to-date examples laid out clearly - from Brad and Jen to Nelson Mandela, from gay relationships to mother and child. Not only does it deal with the dynamics of a relationship, but it shows you how to predict when a relationship will change or end, something I've never seen in a Synastry book before. The whole book is very well organized, making it easy to follow and to advance the level of your astrology without getting confused or left behind. There is even a step by step summary of the entire method in the back so that you can consult the book easily when working with real life charts. It also shows you exactly which charts to use for a reading - its so easy to drown in piles of charts when you have two people and all their natal and progressed and synastry charts. Suskin does all the work for you by showing you which ones to use and how to use them.

I have been a professional astrologer for over 20 years and I can tell you that this book should be compulsory reading for all astrologers and for serious students of astrology. Let's face it - our clients want to know about their personal lives most of all. This book is the first one to make me feel secure in the depth and clarity of what I can tell them. You'll never need another book on relationships - don't think twice, just get it.

I've been reading and practicing astrology since 1973 and this is the best book I have yet found on the subject of synastry. It's great to find a book that is not a "cookbook" type astrology book and is aimed serious students and professional astrologers. The author seamlessly blends old and new methods but takes a very modern, sensitive approach to counseling and dealing with both the astrological and psychological issues that arise in relationship readings. I was impressed with the inclusion of relationships beyond the obvious - such as parent/child - as well as the techniques to predict endings of a relationship - pretty powerful stuff. The examples about Mandela and about OJ were truly mindblowing. Best of all for me was that it provides a summary at the end so that you can systematically work through everything in the real life situation, because the detailed text demands careful study the first time through. But I would rate this book as essential if you really want to give powerful relationship readings.

Synastry is a fine tool for understanding dynamics between two people, explaining elements of relationship analysis which begin with the natal chart and lead to identification of patterns and perspectives. From methods of predicting relationship changes to sample worksheets and ethical and legal concerns, SYNASTRY: UNDERSTANDING THE ASTROLOGY OF RELATIONSHIPS is an outstanding survey perfect for new age libraries.

This book is extremely good in explaining the different techniques used in Synastry, as well as it is very well organised and a serious effort of scholarship. It is not a "fluff" book, in any sense, except maybe the examples charts used discussing OJ simpson trial, etc..but at least one can learn from these examples, even though I thought it was not in accord with the overall serious style of the author in the rest of the book.)

Also, it is very good book for the price. Surprisingly many of the best astrology books, I have found , are not that expensive. This books is for sure worth its price.

This book provides a very good understanding of the relationships between people using both synastry and composite charts. Very clear, but probably not for beginners.

This book is a complete waste of paper. It will tell you nothing that you can't get for free online. It's also too technical and boring. I returned it.
