A Nice Addition to a Police Fan's CD Collection,
By A Customer
This review is from: Synchronicity (Audio CD)
This is one the better cd issues, or re-issues of Synchronicity. Not only does this album come in a nice clear-spine case (oh yeh!), it has full lyrical listing, the obligatory bonus track (Murder by Numbers), and finally, a great high quality quicktime-video of Every Breath You Take! Well worth buying!

I distinctly remember running out to get Synchronicity on vinyl back when it was originally released; and on CD it still sounds so good today! It is indeed one of The Police's best albums--and maybe their best album ever. Their music stands the test of time and it's very well performed. The quality of the sound on this CD is excellent and the artwork uses the artwork from the front cover of the record album.
"Synchronicity I" starts the album off with a strong tune; they sing and play this like the pros they were and still remain! They handle the beat faultlessly and I'm impressed. "Walking in Your Footsteps" uses the percussion very well; they do this one to perfection--and beyond. The musical effects are perfect for this number, too. "Walking in Your Footsteps" is a highlight of this album. In addition, "O My God" has The Police doing nothing less than their very best--and that's terrific. The beat is great and those drums combine with the guitar work to enhance the number all the more. "Miss Gradenko" has that Police flavor to it; they make this shine bright as they pull this off without a hitch! They don't sing or play a single superfluous note and I love it. Then we get the huge, huge hit from this album, "Synchronicity II." "Synchronicity II" is probably my favorite tune by The Police; it was cool back then and it's still cool now. Listen for The Police to rock hard on the foreboding "Synchronicity II," too. "Every Breathe You Take" is a very special number; they sing this wonderfully and their passionate delivery makes this song all the more emotional. Again, I really love this music--this is all THAT good. "King of Pain" is another brilliant tune that Sting and the rest of The Police make outstanding with their superb treatment of it; I really like "King of Pain." "Wrapped around Your Finger" is quite a song; I doubt you'll forget this song anytime soon if you haven't heard it before. "Wrapped around Your Finger" is a masterpiece and that's grand. The CD ends strong with The Police performing a bonus track called "Murder by Numbers." "Murder by Numbers" has great percussion and Sting never falters as he sings his lyrics. The music that plays fits in perfectly with the vocals. Overall, if you want high quality control music from The Police, this is one album you must get for your collection. I highly recommend this classic album.

The Police - SYNCHRONICITY (1983),
By
This review is from: Synchronicity (Audio CD)
By the release of SYNCHRONICITY, their fifth album, The Police were the biggest band in the world. It came as quite a shock when the band members went their seperate ways at the peak of the group's popularity. Fortunately, SYNCHRONICITY is as magnificent an epitaph as a band could wish for. Since its release, the album has become nearly legendary. The first half is great - particularly the uptempo "Synchronicity I" - but it's when one reaches the ferocious "Synchronicity II" that the album really takes off. What follows are some of the most impressive and memorable songs to come out of the 1980's, and possibly out of rock music in general. "Every Breath You Take", with its unforgettable guitar riff, needs no introductions; it is not only the band's signature composition, but the most requested song in the history of radio. "King Of Pain", "Wrapped Around Your Finger", and the dreamy "Tea In The Sahara" are brilliant; "Murder By Numbers", another excellent song, was tacked on to the end of the album when it was released on CD as incentive for fans to purchase the pricier CD version. Though the other band members contribute some compositions (Stewart Copeland's charming "Miss Gradenko", Andy Summers' bizarre "Mother"), it's clear that Sting was running the show. The immense success of the album convinced Sting to go solo, thus ending the reign of one of the greatest bands of all time. SYNCHRONICITY is pure gold, ranking among the finest albums of all time; it's a fitting end for such a wonderful band.
