FAIL, bad components, company out of business., March 7, 2010
This review is from: Syntax Olevia 37 inch 437V 1600:1 Built in ATSC Tuner (Electronics)
Excellent input setup, better than average screen, pretty weak remote (BUTTONS AND distance/angle),bad speakers.
Have seen reports on AVSforums, that ALL of these fail. A victim of the capacitor plague on the power supply. If yours takes more than a minute for splash screen to come up, or the blue light won't go off after hitting the on button, take it in now, and have the capacitors replaced on the power supply.
As they go bad, they will cause the mainboard and inverter to fail too, making it a big doorstop.
I was very happy with the tradeoffs on this TV, but think bad capacitors are an act of war on our economy and environment.
Worked for 2 years as a refurbished, and am going to attempt repair myself. Is a Flicker set on repairing a 27".
Company is out of business, and customer support was never even as good as the cell phone companys.

great deal for a great picture, June 4, 2009

I have had three olevia lcd. I was getting them at cost from Office Depot. Built in QAM and ATSC tuner works great with comcast. I get 70 plus channels with a $12/mo limited Basic package. I hook up my laptop HDMI port to the wall mounted 437 in our Living room to watch DVD's and Netflix. Picture is awesome. of course it looks best in room with low light. I also play Call of Duty on it with no motion blur or noticable problems.

Best Bang for the Buck!, January 9, 2009

I bought one of these on sale 1 1/2 years ago and love it. To date I have had no problems. Picture is great, Sound is fine, and once it is on... response is instant. When my family and friends come over to watch a game I get many comments about the great picture. The only complaint I have is that it takes several seconds to turn on when I hit the power key on the remote. Does not bother me but new users get extra finger pressing exercise. I gave it 5 stars because for the $699 I paid it provided better picture and features than models costing over $1000.
