Since I first began my exploration for new forms of music and trying desperately to escape the mainstream crap I've found really awesome bands... but by far the best I've discovered is a band from Sweden named Deathstars. They are a little on the religious blasting side but their music is sure to give your ears nothing but satisfaction. Whiplashers deep voice and tones gives a gothic feel to their already industrial music style.

Synthetic Generation is an amazing treat for music lovers of the goth/industrial scene but I feel anyone could enjoy the beats that these guys mercilously dish out. Deathstars is a band that's not afraid to step out on the limb of creativeness and experimentation. If you buy ANY of their cd's you will not be dissappointed... the lyrics are passionate and well written and fit the beats of the song with out-most perfection. Their newest cd Termination Bliss seems to some how even surpass Synthetic Generation. Just when you thought the band was at complete perfection they come up with something even better. That's what I call a great band. Whiplashers vocals are at their best in Termination Bliss and the beats are as fun and exciting as ever. Not only one of the most attractive looking set of band members out there... there sound is that of their own and they work it. Don't miss out and buy Termination Bliss and Synthetic Generation. I listen to both cd's over and over again all day dancing and singing in the shower and the car... beware this band is addictive and you'll find it hard to ever stop listening to them.

there is a new musical style emerging from nuclear blast with two artists... the kovenant (animatronics and SETI only) and the deathstars (who seemingly copy kovenant but do a damn good job, maybe even better) this genre entails melodic rythyms, industrial guitars and synth, with black metal vocals. also these bands believe strongly that creation was the work of beings not of this earth. this isn't your candy coated uranim/headbanger's ball kind of music, although the songs are strong enough to hold up. on synthetic generation, the deathstars have better production than any black metal band, and are equal to any other fine production i have ever heard. it just sounds so crisp, clean, and futuristic. plus the songs just rock. the bonus videos are also very nicely done, looking as good as a manson video at least. if you enjoy this album, buy kovenant's animatronics and especially SETI. fans of industrial metal like bile, nocturne, manson will probably enjoy this as well as fans of black metal in the vein of puritanical-era dimmu borgir.

Synthetic Generation is the debut album from Swedish Metal band Deathstars. When I first heard the album, I immediately heard resemblances with The Kovenant. The main difference between those bands is that The Kovenant writes better and more original songs. Although Synthetic Generation is a fun album to listen to, the songs tend to sound to simple. The music is build upon up-tempo Rammstein riffs and electronic keyboard-sounds. Unfortunately the instrumentation is rather simple. There are not many instrumental parts that really stand out. The vocals are not bad, but sound a bit limited. On the title-track you can hear a vocal part, which sounds much better than the usual vocals on the album. Besides simple, the songs are also short. On Synthetic Generation Deathstars also plays the song "White Wedding" from Billy Idol. That song fits the band perfectly. If you are a fan of The Kovenant or Rammstein, then check out this album. Synthetic is a promising debut, but I hope that the second album will be better.

I am a big fan of dark, death and symphonic metals, and although I don't listen to this albumn quite as much as others such as Nightwish and Pain, I think Deathstars really does make good listening. They are a fairly new band, and a few of their tracks could do with a few minor adjustments, but their videos and style is very profesional. There is variation between the tracks, and while a fan of different taste may not be able to tell them apart, that is usually the case with all bands. While the talent is not exceptional, their style and presentation are spot on. They'll soon be riding with the best of them. I enjoyed this albumn very much, although I wouldn't pay any more than £15 for it. (About $25, I think.)

I first heard of Deathstars about a month ago in the "Monsters of Metal Vol.1" DVD, it shows their Synthetic Generation video (which is very good). I really liked the song and decided to by the cd, I was very pleased. Synthetic Generation gived you the industrial feel mixed with a good dose of goth metal. I bought the cd only 3 days ago and I have listened to it probably 20 times, it is by far one of my fav. CDs. I suggest it to fans of The Kovanent, and Cradle of Filth.

I must say that I know Deathstars since his second CD. I just surfing the videos websites and I see Cyanide. I just drop my jaw. the picture, the riffs, the voice, oh holy crap, the voice. I have a good sound system and when my sub woofer start to spit Whiplasher's deep dark words, I just get hooked as a Deathstars fan forever.

then I run to buy both cd's, in Amazon of course, and since then (January 2008), I just simply can't stop to hear them. I have a playlist for read, one for walk, another for jogging and even one for sleep.

I concur with everybody. if you like Rammstein, you will like DS, and I love Rammstein since '98. but I say it again, the Whiplasher's voice, you could only understand me with a good surround system and a great and clear sub woofer.

anyway, I will try to review the songs, will be hard because I love 'em all, but Ill try:

1.- Semi-Automatic: great song, I love the starting part, maybe too techno, but then again the ultra dark vocals and the rhythm of the very distorted guitars, its awesome. very sticky chorus and lots of changes in the same song make it a very funny song. great drums and maybe I miss the bass which could sound harder, specially since Skinny is a great bassist. I love the chorus voices at the bottom.

2.- Synthetic Generation: another great piece where again Whiplasher do an awesome job. this time we can hear a little bit harder to Skinny, in fact the bass in this song is really deep and dark which in conjunction with the voice, do an awesome job. it's almost impossible not bang your head at the rhythm of the drum box in the chorus. more rocker than Semi-Automatic but stills get his little techno touch specially in the sticky rhythm.
