2.0 out of 5 stars Someone should have proof-read the book thoroughly., November 3, 1999
This review is from: GSM System Engineering (Artech House Mobile Communications Series) (Hardcover)
This book focusses more on the RF part of GSM and not enough on the rest of the switching system. Chapters dealing with switching and transmission are dotted with errors.

Good points are the message sequence diagram.

The book by Gunnar Heine is better reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books on GSM., February 11, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: GSM System Engineering (Artech House Mobile Communications Series) (Hardcover)
It is through and complete. Covers not only radio access network but also switching network in good detail. There is not so much maths inside. Call flow diagrams are particularly good. Although it doesn't cover GPRS, this book could be a good reference on GSM communications technologies. Warmly recommended.

As a GSM validation student this book is an excellent refernece
to me. Ofcourse it emphesises more on physical layer.
One should have a basic understanding of the GSM specs to understabd the first few chapters. Overall I give ***** to this.
