This review is from: System Rush (Video Game)
The nokia n-Gage was definitely an ill-conceived console to say the least. But at the time it offered so much more than a gameboy advance. Multimedia applications, palm os-like functions, cellular calling capability, emulators for old game consoles, and playstation quality graphics. All it needed to really be a hit was great games, and waiting for those required patience. That patience paid off with System Rush. Next to Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, it's arguably the best looking and greatest N-Gage title ever released. I would have said that its graphics almost rivaled the likes of Nintendo DS. Its a futuristic looking racing title that looks like a cross between Wipeout for Playstation, and Walt Disneys TRON. The storyline in the one player mode places you in the midst of two hackers who are trying to take down several networks run by, I suppose, a bunch of "corrupt rich guys who must be stopped" (your guess is as good as mine) and each level plays like a racer but is actually supposed to represent you virtually hacking into their network. You progress through several different levels of difficulty in each of the 5 worlds or so, and each level is filled with several powerups, as well as other drone racers that you must outrun and even destroy. They, as well as you, have a life meter for your craft that when depleted means your virtual craft explodes in a blast of pixels. My only beef with this game is that it is a little too short of game. But it offers great replay value with multiplayer Bluetooth support. In it's heyday it also features online scoreboards and ghost times to race against which was kind of cool, but all ngage servers are long gone now. The graphics get an A grade as well as the phenomenal sound effects and killer soundtrack. If you're into collecting for N-Gage, this title is must have no doubt about it.
