Recently, there has been a preoccupation by otolaryngologists with nasal and sinus disorders because of a major change in the manner in which nasal and sinus disorders have been detected and cared for. Much of this interest has been stimulated by the development of nasal and sinus endoscopy by European investigators and of CT imaging. The text focuses on a group of systemic diseases of various categories that are often not treated in a comprehensive manner in most otolaryngology or rhinology texts, and whose treatment in general medical texts often lacks in-depth discussion of the rhinologic aspects of the disease.
