Review
"Its almost as though this book is about everything - or maybe everything is about parenting." -- Dr. Janet M. Shaw, Ph.D. - University of Utah
From the Author
There are many parenting books on the shelves today. Systemic Parenting was written to stand out from the crowd. Parenting well seems more like an art form than anything else. It requires a lot from the parent. Yet, most resources for parents attempt to boil the process down to a few "points", "ultimate solutions", and "step-by-step plans". I have worked with hundreds of parents in my practice of family therapy and have recognized that attempts to oversimplify healthy parenting are rarely very helpful. Systemic Parenting is a book for parents wanting to get serious about parenting. It presents a lot of information and was written to be reference for the entire parenting process (from toddler, through adolescence, into adulthood). Systemic Parenting explores the bigger picture of parenting and supports the parent develop greater levels of intimacy, empathy, emotional safety in this most important relationship. Systemic Parenting is appropriate for any parent. It supports parents dealing with everyday parenting challenges as well as parents struggling with severe behavioral problems. I would also recommend that Systemic Parenting be read by parents whose children are excelling, as there is always room for improvement. Good luck and good parenting!
