With an exterior of hard, black porcelain enamel and an interior of granite-appearing nonstick, this moderately priced 10-1/2-inch square griddle resists scratches outside and inside. The manufacturer, in fact, says metal utensils can be used with it, and it is dishwasher-safe. Metal utensils and a dishwasher, however, inevitably will reduce the griddle's useful life, which, in any case, is not meant to last for a cook's lifetime--though it does carry a lifetime warranty against defects. Instead, it's for novice and occasional cooks to cook pancakes, eggs, burgers, and fish fillets. The griddle's low sides permit easy access for a turner. On the underside of the griddle there's a small copper disc. The disc hardly improves heat conductivity but does activate a red spot on the bottom of the interior. The spot becomes solid red when the griddle is properly preheated. The griddle's synthetic handle has a stylish nickel inset, stays cool on the stovetop, and is oven-safe to 350 degrees F. --Fred Brack

This griddle is the best I have ever had the pleasure to work with. The heat spot is a great feature and after a certain temperature, the griddle stays there perfectly, not getting warmer or cooler in temperature which is a fault of other similar griddles. It is also very easy to handle.On a personal note, I am from India and I have not found a better product for making Indian roti and dosa. I highly recommend this griddle for anyone who is looking to buy a new one. It is worth every penny!

I suppose that if a product serves it's intended purpose, it should receive a good review. This griddle does exactly that. It makes the best pancakes of any pan I own, including Calphalon, and I've even made scrambled eggs, fried ham, kielbasa, and other items on it, without anything ever sticking to it. In about 4 minutes at medium low, the spot in the center turns solid red, which means the pan is ready for cooking. If you're making pancakes, about a minute on each side and they're perfect. Simple pan for simple purpose, great price, and still looks good after 3 months of heavy use. Perfect!

Got this griddle for christmas '03. It is a wonderful product! Do not know how I got along without it. Great for eggs (any variety, omelette to scrambled) to pancakes. Also, it is much easier for my 5 year daughter to use (with supervision of course) to make pancakes. Clean up is as easy as running water, little dishsoap and wiping down. Am online now purchasing more T-Fal products (goodbye old pans!).
