5.0 out of 5 stars One really great Iron, July 8, 2002
By
This review is from: T-Fal 1656 Ultraglide Iron (Kitchen)
T-Fal's Ultraglide plus Iron is an exceptional tool. The sole plate heats quickly and the steam vents deliver a good burst of steam when the steam function is engaged. The durilion sole plate is easy to keep clean. The water tank level is visible at all times. The automatic shut-off engages after 8 minutes of unuse, but the sole plate reheats in about 15 seconds. The handle is large and easy to grip.
The only feature that I did not like was the procedure for cleaning which seemed quite tedious, although it did the job. Overall I would give the iron a five star rating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Go T-fal!!, July 25, 2002

The iron has actually made me like ironing. It's smooth and has powerful steam to do the worst cotton...also the iron isn't too heavy. It has atomatic shutoff if you forget and I love the base...very easy to clean too.

This iron is wonderful. I hate ironing and this iron makes it bearable. It just glides over the clothing and you do not have to push down on it for it to get the wrinkles out. I definitely recommend this iron!

Ironing is one of my least favorite tasks, and I was beyond clueless when I started shopping for a new iron. Based on the other reviews on this page, and the fact that this iron was on sale at a local store, I decided to buy it. And you know what? I do love it! It makes ironing fun--er, well, almost! This iron is lightweight, and the settings are simple enough but let you choose the type of fabric you're ironing and the amount of steam you want--which can be a lot, unlike the last iron I used to have! The iron glides--or, perhaps, it "ultraglides" over my clothes, and wrinkles just come out! What more could you ask for!?

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than more expensive irons, June 17, 2003
This review is from: T-Fal 1656 Ultraglide Iron (Kitchen)
I'm really hard on irons. They don't last me for very long. Previous to owning this T-Fal model, I've owned Rowentas, which cost me more...each. After a while, they clogged, they died. Therefore, when I purchased this iron while low on funds, I felt that it would probably be just a temporary one until I could afford another Rowenta. However, I found it to be an exceptional iron, giving me the steam and power that I needed. When I dropped it today and broke it beyond repair, I knew I had to get another one just like it, so I came to Amazon and found it at a good price and with free shipping. Who can beat that?

My previous iron was an old one that didn't have any auto shut-off features. I got burned by that (no pun intended!) when last year there was an incident where we left it on for 2 whole days!
After that, I promised myself I'd buy a new iron with auto shut-off features and in my search, I decided to buy this one.
Of course, the first things I tested were the 30 second and the 8 minute shut-off features and they both work perfectly! Ironing is also a breeze. At first I thought it wasn't heavy enough, but that doesn't seem to be a problem. Even the toughest wrinkles are very easy to deal with - I highly recommend this iron.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Bye Rowenta, Hello T Fal, July 29, 2003

I Love the iron, it weighs just the right amount, glides effortlessly over the material and creases pants extremely well. THere is a no spill function on the water tank and serval levels of steam. An added bonus is that the iron automatically turns off when left idle for too long in 3 separate positions (on its heel, flat and sideways). A great value and I am very pleased.

I bought a Rowenta Iron and it only lasted 4 years during which time I ironed sporadically at best. The heating plate would no longer heat up. So, being pressed for time I ordered through Amazon because I didn't have time to schlepp (sp?) to the store just to get an iron. I loved the fact that this purchase plus a cd I've wanted meant free shipping. Could this be more convenient?

I hate ironing, but have been using this iron for a year now, and it make the job so easy! When I broke mine 3 months ago, I knew that I would not be happy with another one. It is very easy to take care of and use. It conquers the toughest wrinkles, on any fabrics. I will never use another iron!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't get a Rowenta!!!!!!, October 1, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: T-Fal 1656 Ultraglide Iron (Kitchen)
We thought Rowenta was top of the line. Our first Rowenta died and I sent it back for no-charge repairs. We bought another Rowenta to use while that one was being repaired. I have sent the irons back at least 4-5 times each for repairs (won't heat up). They now reside in the dump and we LOVE this T-FAL.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Iron!, September 16, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: T-Fal 1656 Ultraglide Iron (Kitchen)
I bought this iron about a month ago after my $100 Rowenta broke down after only about 4 years of light use. I am completely satisfied with this iron so far. One of my concerns was that a cheaper iron wouldn't get hot enough to iron my linen and cotton clothes. This iron definitely gets hot enough to get the job done. It is also nice and light weight (which also does not interfere with how well it presses the clothes).
Great price, great iron!
